1979k5 Well soon to be my new thing to work on, my plans are to take my 86 k5 frame and start reworking it to stuff the 79 body on it. I'm thinking of boxing the frame, and putting the 52s rear springs on the front and sticking some 60 inchers that I got from Jason a wile back on the back. Got some 3/4 ton axles to throw under it, probably have to build a anti rap bar. not sure on the trans and case, I have a 350/203, 400/203, sm465/205 but I think I want to go with a 350/205 if I can find a set. My 35 inch boggers on my crew cab are what I plan on running on this, and I'll find something else for it. my 86 below I want to swap the motor from my nova into this, put the 350 from the 73 jimmy in the nova, because its a pretty nice motor. than see if i can salvage the 350 from this 79 k5 or cobble something together to throw in the jimmy, which may go bye bye eventually yes I'm going to put the 3000 stall in it so this baby is going to be a sand lake or a mud bogging rig only. maybe even keep the n2o on it, not totally sure. I'm open to helpful ideas to make this thing happen, I will need a full roll bar in it. And probably some help fabricating some of the stuff I will need for it, want to make it as light as possible, well what do you think? I'm I nuts or what?

now that I think about it, I think I would be up for racing it, I need some more info? vegaguy? chevygirl? someone? Sheridan and Willamina tech sheets are almost identical I think. Supposedly there is going to be a universal tech sheet to be used at all mud race events in the Pacfic Northwest, but I don't know when that is going to happen for sure. You are looking at Stock V8, Road & Trail (that's where my truck is), Modified (vegaguys truck is there), Super Modified, and Open classes. Different modifications mean different points, and that depends on where you are racing, too. If you are going to run it topless, then a roll cage is mandatory I can tell you that right off hand. If you put cut tires or paddles on it or run the N2O, those things will throw you in Open class immediately for where we race. Here is the points bracket and tech sheet for Sheridan. sheridanmuddrags.com/participant.htmlPoint made here about where you race and what class you go into by points: at Sheridan and Willamina my truck runs in Road & Trail. According to CRMA rules it runs Stock, and it also runs Stock at the Astoria races.

thanks for the info looks like theres always extra room for if they spot something they want to give you points for. It looks as if I'll be getting every point possible for my motor I wonder how good they are at spotting after market heads? well n2o is out the door, I could just run an HEI, and throw a stock air cleaner on it. I'm at the edge of modified and would want to stay there. well I guess I just have to build it and keep a few things in mind and just race it and figure out where there putting me.. key word being (built) first I'll just have to see if I can get it done, with my half dozen other projects going on.

Next races are August 29th in Newport, followed by Astoria on October 9th and 10th. I would say go ahead and build up into Modified, there are a LOT of trucks in the Road & Trail class (like over 100 this year at each race), but not so many in Modified. Besides, as long as you don't offer up any info about your truck, you only get marked for what they see or what they ask if you have. Sometimes you get a tech guy that knows his stuff, sometmes you get the kid that barely knows the difference between Fords and Chevys.
