none of that affects the price since boring the cyl. line bore and replacing the cam and lifters as included in the long block price. I asked them if they were cleaning the tins too and they said that they clean and re-install evrything they remove. so they will have the tins and the intake installed for me. Pritty cool, huh.

I started pulling stuff apart. There was oil running out of #3 when I pulled the spark plugs. A lot of the other plugs had water on them. Any ideas what happened? I think It threw a rod up-wards through the block, but my friend thinks it might of just blew a head gasket. I will tear it down when I get the new one running. There wasn't a hole in the side of the block on either side. Or any dammage to the oil pan. The oil pan was full of anti freeze also.

I broke a rod cap and slammed the piston into the head. the block was ok and the head was ok even though it had witness marks from the piston. it hit the head so hard it stretched a few bolts and water filled the cylinder.

Got the motor out and found the problem. The #1 piston looks like it exploded, broke off of the rod. The wrist pin knocked a hole in the cylander and the rod bearing was gone. There was piston chunks in the area under the intake, oil running out of several clyanders. I pulled the externals and the heads off and I think the rest is scrap. The motor builder didn't call today so I think it will be ready tomorrow.

I'm not sure. It was definatly domed. It was a 402 "out of what?" Not sure there either. We don't know much about it. Other than it is scrap now!!!!

are all bigblocks domed pistons or was that one built a little? No not all bigblocks have domed pistons. My 502 pistons are flat top and the old 454 pistons were dished. I have seen alot of domed pistons in BBC's though. It is a shame it let go. The motor did have a funny noise when you started the day.

I picked up my new motor today. I asked the guy about the 402. He said that the domed pistons pere stock in it. He figured that the rod bearing went out and let the piston hit the head. Then it went to heck from there.
