Here it is on the trailer on it's way to being stripped and rebuilt into a 1 ton beast. I delivered it to Robert's shop today. It will be in his shop that he works out of, so the plan is to get it done and out of his way as soon as possable. It's a lot of work and I don't want it to take so long that I lose intrest and it gets side lined. Can't wait to tear into it saturday. I am planning on getting it off of the trailer, into the shop, and unbolting the body mounts in preporation of lifting it off of the frame. I'll try to remember to get some pics.

Next weekend I plan to start on the frame mods. They should be picture worthy. Unbolting the body today was not.

I think that guy has the years wrong. It says 73-87, but my truck has a cowl between the hood and windsheild and my buddies doesn't, mine is an 84 or his a 79.

the hood that is on it is in great shape. no need to fix it. It aint broke. Neither is the frame....But I already have one and I alwayse wanted to do a swap like this. I like the pride of doing something with stock parts to do a better than factory build up. (no such thing as a true 1 ton suburban)

went yesterday and jacked up the body about 6 inches off the frame and put in wood blocks to make sure that every thing is unhooked and ready to seporate. There was a bracket holding the fuel filler neck, that I haddent seen. That was the only thing I missed. I should be able to get some more done this weekend.

My friend got the new frame to the shop today. I went down there and pulled off the saddle tanks and every thing else that was bolted to the frame that I don't want on it. I found out today that 3 of the body mounts were cut off. This gave reason to do something that I have beeb concidering. I'm moving the body back on the frame to make more room between the floor and the front tires. The front 3 body mounts would of bolted right up. I think I will have to use them off of the old frame. When I install them I think I will move them back2-3 inches back from the stock location. The main factor is the space between the fan and the radiator. I have to check still. The frame will end up 3'4'' too long(about the center of the rear axel's location will be the end. The frame doesn't narow at the rear either. I might be able to utalize the suburban fuel tank.
