Here's as far as I got last month before I tried to cut my thumb off. I got the upper coilover mount mocked up. Now I need to get the lower mount to the axle done and put it all back together. I get the pin pulled out of my thumb tomorrow so hopefully I can get this thing finished soon.

Got a little more done with some new parts. Not sure if it would be better to mount these struts vertical or angle them down to the front.

At the very least I would angle them forward enough that when the axle is in full droop they are vertical.

Good point. I'm going to angle them to the front enough to weld the molunting tabs on the bottom of the tube like in this pic. Figure it'll give me abount one more inch of travel.

Well that sucked. I had to shorten the lower links about an inch to correct the pinion angle. Messed up one joint so had to order another one and a bung. The heim threaded right in about half way no problem then bound and had to mess up the threads getting it out.

If you have an old worn out chromoly heim you can cut grooves in the thread and make a chaser out of it for cleaning up and future bungs.

I think what happened is I cut into the bug a little when cutting it of the link and it must have melted or deformed the threads when welding it back on. I used antiseize on the second link but still had a hard time working the heim on. I picked up a Lincoln 135 mig welder that buns a little hotter than my miller so I'm still getting used to the settings.

That heim is probably salvageable. Just grind the first few threads off. As for the chaser idea I cant claim it, I heard it from ruff stuff on pirate who heard it from someone else.

Getting more done. I broke my foot so things are taking a little longer than I had hoped. Rear brake line is done. Had NAPA make up a braided steel line to run along the upper link. Found a "T" and other fittings at Ace Hardware in Saint Helens. They have a good assortment of brake fittings in their plumbing department. Welded in a tube cross member at the "B" pillar. This will be part of the structural support when I get around to cutting out the back half of the frame and tubing it. ORI struts are installed and now working on the floor pans. Welded on new header collectors. When I moved the drivetrain back the collectors were running into the roll cage where it's welded to the frame. Rear drive line is now cut down and rewelded. Hopefully I can get the rest of this together this weekend.
