looks like you gave the mud flaps quite a workout... did you notice a difference in the tranny since the rebuild?

I ran 1st gear high range, so didn't get a chance to run through the gears while racing. It definitely engages more positively when shifting into forward or reverse, and shifts firmly when cruising around. I ran 2nd gear low range before the rebuild. During the rebuild I found out running hard in manual 2nd is tough on these turbo transmissions.

It is, but I think that is why all the band liner came off, the direct drum had grooves worn in from the stator seals and the direct drum bushing had excessive ware. The band locks up in manual second around the direct drum. The direct drum is kind of like a bowl with the bushing at the bottom, so when the band locks up it can cause the direct drum to move a little out of true. The newer pump stators have an extra thin teflon bushing that helps stabilize the direct drum. Hopefully this make sense.
I'm running a 205 T-case, so second gear in low range is just a smidg lower than first gear high range. Not much difference other than having a quicker start off the line. The track was wet, so my tires spun right up and starting in low range would not have made much difference.

Rear D60 disc brake conversion with D44 parts. So far I am able to use all D44 parts except for adapting the flex hose to the rear brake line fitting. I picked up two steel brake lines from NAPA with the proper fittings. D44 caliper bracket. Removed spindle cup and re-drilled mounting holes to D60. Indexed caliper at about 11 O'clock. The caliper bracket is about 3/4 inch from the axle housing flange, so I'm thinking of cutting sections of pipe and welding them to the bracket to sleeve the mounting bolts. Hopefully this will keep the bracket secure. Extra parts

Picked up a D60 4 series spool. Now just need the gears to go with it. It's a lot lighter than my welded spiders, so I should get more power to the dirt.

Ok so started to install the new gears and I cannot get the front inner bearing off the pinion with out ruining it. I borrowed a snapon clam shell splitter and I warped the bearing cage and bent the oil slinger. I was hoping to reuse the bearings, but now I need to get new bearings as well as an oil slinger. I've only done a couple gear swaps, but it's been quite awhile. Is this common???

Finally got the front gears done. Talking about lack of motivation. Also got the rear disc brake brackets fabricated and painted, and disassembled the rear end. I hopefully I don't take as long with the rear as I did with the front.
