Yes, If I knew it was a ring and pinion, and it was going to cost that much.. I wouldn't have fixed. I would have continued to save and replaced it with at 14 bolt. Although I am suprised the 8.8 broke, even with size tires, I don't think I wheel it that hard. Maybe I'm harder on it then I think I am..

Sometimes its not how hard you use the throttle but when that causes things to break. It could be that the ring gear was never setup properly as well, if it had a weird pattern then mabe it would be more likely to break.

The Pattern looked great as far as I could tell. Jason now has it, maybe he can comment on it. The Ring gear on the 8.8 is pretty beefy, I'm suprised I broke it without hammering on it. It started making noise on the way home after an easy day's wheeling...

Fixed the track bar in the jeep last night. Replaced the bushings and gave it new bolts and nuts. Torked them down to 100fpt. It should be good from now on.
We found a crack in my crappy welds on the track bar mount (axle side) Tyler re-welded it for me and put a little extra on it just in case. It’s ¼” metal so I’m hoping my little wire welder is strong enough to make a good weld. It’s a little harbor freight and tool welder with only a low/high switch. No heat adjustment. If it cracks again I will need to get it stick welded.
Found two more cracks. One Pat found on my muffler. Both the in and out are loose. I should be able to use my little welder to fix this one.. After all it’s tin .
The second crack is in thick metal where the frame, motor mount and 4-link come together. It will need stick welded. I don’t know if I should attempt it or have it done.

It just depends on how the family is doing. Kimi is still weak and dizzy from sugery and she doesn't feel she can walk without someone beside her. Tyler might be sore after the game tonight... My Dad has big 220 stick welder, if not... I just need to practice some before atempting to weld it. At least it is in a easier spot.

Hmmm.. It's 12 degrees outside and the Jeep will not turn over this morning.. Hmmmm..
I checked the antifreeze and it looked fine/dark green. I drove it yesterday and the battery seemed OK. It's a OPTIMA BlueTop battery about a year old. It clicks hard so I don't think it's power..
Maybe the starter froze up? Any other Ideas... Other then the motor being frozen...
