just for clarification, im buying shock tabs. the 14 bolt has a tube diameter of 3.5"? or close within .2" the 44, which i think is a 79(alex's guess) has a 2.75" dia? that sound right?

today i finished the brakes. but the pedal had to go to the floor to stop. once it got there it stoped ok though. so we bled the brakes for around an hour. we would bleed them, drive around the block testing, bleed more. till no air was coming out at all. but we noticed the fluid in the master cylinder would bubble when the pedal was depressed. i searched on pirate and it looks like i need a biger master cylinder from a 3/4 or 1 ton chevy. heres the video. i could go pick one, but what should i be looking for? or what to buy from napa. i would like it to bolt in.

did the other guy ditch the ABS system?
I swiched my master cyl out as well,, and it still took alot of bleeding to get decent pressure...

its likely that the abs system is no longer there, but thats just a hunch. i connected the brake lines i made with the stock splitter. idk about anything further up the line that may have been changed. a friend suggested that the valve in the MC may be cloged or ruined and to just replace it, i priced a re-man at around 35 from autozone. a different mechaninc friend sugested trying to adjust the drums first. that the system is prolly fine just the drums need to be adjusted so they catch earlyer.

Those master cylinders have a slow return on them. When you pump up the brake pedal and it goes down, wait 15 seconds before pumping it again after you let the pedal come back up. Have to wait for the piston in the master cylinder to return, otherwise it could be sucking air back into the caliper as soon as you open the bleeder screw to bleed them

I used a master cylinder from an '89 k5 blazer, I'm running disks front and rear and mine works good.

would that bolt right in? my mechanic friend told me i will have to take the drum apart to adjust it and it could take 30min per side. or backing up and hitting the brakes might adjust it too.
also i replaced the tps with a brand spanking new one, and the tranny seems to have gotten worse. it holds first really long then jams into second really hard. i am not sure what trail to follow at this point. any help?

The master cylinder will bolt right up, no problem, I can't remember if the lines are different or not, may need to buy line adapters once you try to hook it up. You do need to make sure the rear brakes are adjusted up properly, if there isn't a access hole in the backing plate then yes you will need to pull it apart to adjust it. I'm not sure on the tranny issue, I'll do some research.

i will try the back up and brake trick tonight and see if that helps.
i posted my tranny problem on pirate with no sucess yet.
as soon as i get the brake in better shape, and mud flaps made then i will take it to a trans shop to get the codes more accurately pulled.
