You need to pull the timing connector and then set the timing to 0*, that is the correct way to do it. The timing connector should be above the passenger side floor board, behind the carpet but below the heater box. Should be a tan wire with a white or black stripe. Start the truck, pull the connector apart and the truck should start running like crap, set the timing to 0*, shut the engine off, plug the connector back in and then restart the engine, all should be computer controlled after that.

ok.. will look for that timing wire.. have been into all those wires and have not put them away yet.. should be right there and easy to find.
Thanks for that bit of info.. I will post up when done and hopefully a video of the finished product.

Worked on truck all day and evening till midnight on Thursday and got about everything back together. On Friday I drove the truck to Ira's Muffler in Orchards to get the new engine connected to the old exhaust system. At that point had only one foot of tubing coming down from the exhaust manifolds just to help make sure no cold air hit the valves. This was a very loud trip to the exhaust shop.. sounded like an airplane. two of the roads have the concrete walls on both sides so it was especially loud.. good thing I didn't pass the exhaust cops.. here is a short vid of the truck running on the short tubes. and two pics of the truck at Ira's Muffler. Only thing I need to do now is actually put a timing light on it and time it.. runs,, drives,,, but low on power. I am hoping the timeing will fix it. I will post when timing is done. ( when roads improve enough to get out and drive to my shop. )

Nice congrats! Talk to Josh about timing it if you need any help.. I like the tune of timing them by ear better though. It gives them a little more off the line power... I think.

The computer will advance it as far as possible until it starts to ping and then it will back it off. Of course that is if the knock sensor is hooked up and working.

yes,, has knock sensor,, but I put it in with teflon tape.. read later you are not suposed to use teflon tape because it isolates the sensor and will not "hear" the knock. I am going to leave it at first and see if it works. if seems to knock I will have to remove and replace without the tape.. only reason not just removing it now is because it is in a bit of a b*tch of a spot to get to.
I will be timing the truck tomorrow. Tues. if i can get to my shop. I am excited to get this thing running right. It is done except for timing the truck.

oops,, did I say done? Not Done. I have a whole list printed out of stuff I want to do to the blazer. Someday,, When $$$. Armor for the front and rear differentials. Gussets for the the housing ends and top of the axle tube. Longfield Birfields and hardended hub gears. Replace all axle seals, bearings, etc. while it is apart. Rock Sliders. Roll bar / slash / exterior exo skeleton for glass protection. Plumb in onboard air from my AC pump. Maybe Staun air beadlocks. Spare Tire Carrier. eek,, my $1300.00 Blazer is gonna be a $13,000.00 Blazer. hope it's worth it. wish me luck.

Here is the latest.. After a good week of trying to get my truck to run "right" It is finally drivable.
I have become very good at switching out fuel injection components.. LONNNNG STORY.
As of Tues 12/30/08 at 1 AM.. It finally ran right. and Woohooo!
My plan was to go to Hangover Mud Run... almost made it. I left Battleground at 6 AM met up with Daryl and Crystal Crowder ( who have been very involved with my v8 conversion and all my fuel injection and computer fun).
We headed north to Lonview, across to Raineer,, and about 7 miles south when Daryl pulled over. After much messing with checking for voltage and fuel.. In the pouring and cold rain.. under a cover of blue plastic. along hwy 30.. seeing you all pass us by... we finally decided we were going to have to tow his jeep cj back to his home in Ridgefield.
This was a good break in run for my truck,,, towing a jeep all that way on a strap.
Ends up he has computer or fuel injection trouble. We messed with it and changed out computer,, injectors,, relay,, fuel regulator,, and who knows what else.. Twice. or more. still don't know what is keeping fuel from coming out the injectors.
Jeep has a Howell fuel injection system based on the GM throttle body and computer. So anyway... we have spent too much time on computers and fuel injection.. any experts? feel free to call me at 360 256 1632 and I will walk you through our troubles and see if you can help..
But,,, Blazer is Good.. See you out there.
