When I put a 5.7 in an astro van I just used the 4.3 harness and installed the 5.7 computer chip into the 4.3 computer. It did not run right with the 4.3 chip hooked up to the 5.7, once I did that all was good. I don't see why you couldn't just use the whole 5.7 computer, should work just fine.

Front clip.. as viewed from inside. Core was trimmed up in a few places and this made room in the area of the old AC condenser for the new corvette style radiator to be placed. A perfect fit.

The new 350 is now placed and totally bolted in. A perfect fit. the adapter motor mount brackets allowed placement in the original position of the old 4.3 engine.. it may be that the exhaust will even hook up.. will be close. Pretty much just need to install exhaust manifolds,, connect wiring and rad and tranny hoses... place on front clip and should be ready to fire up.. hoping for running engine on Saturday.. woo hoo !

Not running yet.. thanks for asking.. If you get REAL BORED>> come on up. ( I know... nice try ).
got to move some wiring,, too close to exhaust.. The computer wires going through the firewall will fry if I don't move em.
got the exhaust manifolds installed.. need to either buy some exhaust pipe stuff and mickey it in or tow to muffler shop.
I will be working on it on Sunday.. hoping to get electrical done on Sunday. then ?,,, (my friends who are helping me are camped at Sandlake for the Turkey weekend.. so are not available till next weekend...) I am going to try to get some stuff done on it before then.

Oops, was that the battery smoking? Did you get it figured out what was wrong, didn't even sound like it was trying. Can't wait to see it when it's done.

Quick,, Shut it off !! Hmmm,,, seems as if it may be important to hook up the thick black ground wire to the battery.. not just the little body ground.. ( that smokes when you try to use it as a main ground..) was so worried about making a good body ground that forgot to hook up the main battery ground to the engine. ok,, hook that one up.. Try again,, seems as though no fuel. runs on starter fluid but won't keep running.. well,, maybe not enough gas.. trip to station,, back with more gas,, pour in,, turn key,, no difference. Ok, maybe it's the computer.. had put entire v8 computer in truck,, maybe it needs the 4.3 computer and just the v8 chip? switch in 4.3 computer with the v8 chip,, hmm what is this wire. Ahhh,, ok,,, finally found the match to this other one.. plug in.. turn key,, and....

Frankensteen is ALIVE...
Finally.. after about 2 months ( since broke engine at SOB ) The Truck IS RUNNING !!
A little fine tuning of the timing.. and ( without exhaust pipe ) It is running ( LOUDLY ) ( I love that sound ) .
Whew... what a relief. now just got to bolt the front clip on. Put on the hood.. put the dash back together ( after tearing into the passenger side looking to relocate the computer harness) and tow it to the exhaust shop to connect the new engine to the exhisting exhaust. Will have it all wrapped up about christmas so will have a week before New Years Run ( brownscamp? ) or ( Snow? ) Or.. maybe a trip to sand lake to see how it does on the dunes compared to the 4.3.
Can't Wait.. YAHOO !!
