OK,,, truck is in my shop now.. I will be doing a v8, 350. I will do the longfield upgrade in Dec. mostly need the power for mud and sand and not huge on the rocks.. so hopefully it will be ok.. I already have the TH350 and NP 205 so that part is capable.. just gonna be a driveline and axle question as far as reliability goes.
Pics of build to follow.

OK.. a lot of parts gathering has been done. Removed the 350 from my friends blazer. loaded it into my truck and brought it home. Ordered and have recieved the conversion Motor Mount Adapters and Motor Mounts from Jags That Run. Got some exhaust manifolds that will work.. And as of this week,,, started stripping down the front of the blazer. Picture of the Engine loaded in my truck,, comming home. Pictue of my Blazer with the Front Clip Removed. What a Mess 1 Picture of the now empty engine compartment. Removed engine, tranny and transfer case because could not get to the tranny bellhousing bolts.. gonna have to do some modifications to the firewall to make sure this never happens again.. More Space. Old 4.3 engine. with TH350 tranny and 205 transfer case attached. will separate tranny and transfer case,, attach to new 350 engine and install as a unit. All the front accessaries will be transplanted to the V8 as well as the engine wiring harness.

a body lift would have helped here.. but not going to lift it any more than it already is... too high now. would prefer truck lowered another 3 or 4 inches. will clearence firewall with a sledge hammer and maybe some access holes for tranny bolt access and distributor hold down bolt access. we'll see.

Today worked on the truck again... got all accessories taken off the 4.3 and put onto the 350. Got the radiator core support cut and installed the corvette radiator into the front clip. Test fitted the dummy engine and then installed the new 350.

DUMMY ENGINE in the engine bay to check for size. looks like he fits! is it might be more expensive to feed him then a good motor, but then again it might be fun to leave the hood off and see him work!

Are you going to be running the motor on a carb or fuel injection? If you are going to fuel inject it and need a hand hooking everything up, I've fuel injected 3 rigs using tbi so let me know if you need help.

Thanks for the offer Josh... I should be ok on the fuel injection hook up... 4.3 was TBI and 5.7 is TBI. We'll see when I hit the key if I need help or not.. Wiring hook up will be this saturday.. Using the harness from the 4.3 because the 5.7 harness is different at the bulk head. looks to have same connections in similar places. I do have computers for both engines.. plan is to plug in 5.7 computer.. *hoping will be ok. (I don't think computer should make a difference since is just controlling fuel air mixture. I am just a tad concerned about using the 5.7 computer and the 4.3 harness.. is same plug in connection under the dash. any thoughts or Knows are welcome. If you want to be around on Sat or Sunday when it fires... PM me with your number and I will call and let you know before we do it. Thanks again, Dave.

PS... DUMMY ENGINE is ME. I do eat alot.. and I don't work real well... Plus I was a little afraid,,, but slightly excited about hooking a tranny up to my back side. so .. thinking the 350 is a better choice. ( except,,, I am way more better looking )
