Picked up a quick turn steering box yesterday out of an 85 Iroc Camero. It's 2-1/4 turns lock to lock. My old truck box is 3-3/4 turns. So with the addition of a longer Scout pitman arm the turning should be twice as fast as before. Now I got to get some rectangular tubing and extend the front frame out for longer springs and the longer steering arm.

Body is off again for more mods Got rid of old springs. The J20 truck has the same length front spring as Chevys but have an arch that is about the same as a 4 inch lift as the FSJ's are spring under. I'm using 51 inch Chevy rear springs and moving the front axle 12 inches forward. Also installing new steering box. The upper box is the stock J20 3-1/2 turn box. This box has 4 bolts to frame. The lower box is from an 85 Iroc and is a 2-1/4 turn box. This box has three bolts to frame that are in the same location as the old box. I'll have to make a brace from box to opposite side of frame to stiffen it up. Off to FG Iron tomorrow to get 2x4 tubing to lengthen the frame.

I'm not sure what to do with that. I use rattle can bed coating thinking it would be pretty durable. Saw a project on a tv show that used it. It chip really easy, so there is a lot of areas that need tuchup. I might just get some appliance enamel and re-rattle can it and live with it.

Got the Scout pitman arm reamed out on installed. With the new steering box and longer pitman arm my steering went from 3 1/2 turns lock to lock to about 1 3/4 turns. It'll handle much better on the track now.
