I just replaced my left front wheel bearing and now I am getting a popping sound when I turn at low speeds (below 10mph) and when I use the brakes at the same peeds without turning. Everything seems to be installed correctly. Is there any suggestions on this problem? Any help will be very appriciated. Thank you James

your axle probably didn't go all the way in and it's making the angle of ur knuckle greater and does it feel like your jeep is hopping?

It does not feel like it is hopping. Just the noise. I will check to make sure that the axle is all the way. Thank you

I have a 88 jeep Cherokee and have replaced the hub before... did yours come as a sealed unit?? did you torque it down?? if you did not the bearings will wear out in a couple of months...( i made that mistake) but check the u-joint on the axle... mine went out right after i replaced the hub... it would make a noice every time you turn at low speeds or brake... if you don't figure it out you can come up here this weekend and I might be able to help... I have replaced almost every thing on the front end of my jeep...

It is a sealed bearing. I replaced the axle u joints about four months ago with some heavy 4x4 ones. I torqued the wheel bearing down to 100 ft pounds. I read online that they ask for 175. That seems to be alot. I do not know. All front suspension has been replaced within the past 6 months or so. I am going to tear it back down tomorrow and check all the suggestions I have been given. Thank you for all of the help James

I found the problem. They gave me the right wheel bearing but I guess they do not make their parts to fit properly. Oh well. I got the 3rd new one that matches the factory one.
