John Day River property will become Oregon's largest recreation site "OREGON ENVIRONMENTAL NEWS Going green, green living, eco friendly tips and articles" I say we get some of this for 4x4 trails :-)..... It's only fair. The Environmentals take away our land Can't we fight back? I know we all have spent money on Lotto tickets... Below is the link. www.oregonlive.com/environment/index.ssf/2009/09/john_day_river_property_will_b.html

This is just river side that property that was bought...mainly for fishing, rafting, camping, and hiking along the John Day River. Sounds like a good idea, but I don't think there is any good 4x4ing to be offered by this.

I don't know.. The article doesn't give enough detail, but in the comments below, one person was talking about being on the land and all the Rattle Snakes, and biking trails got me thinking...
Plus if it's going to be 16,000 ackers, there should be some good 4x4ing on that land.

I've driven that stretch of hiway between Wasco and Conden several times when I was hauling cars, and it's mostly just rolling hills of wheat or grass. Not too much there to wheel on. However there is a place where you can stand and see like, 7 or 8 cascade mountain peaks.

I guess my point is.. If the tree tuggers are worried about loosing part of their "land".. Maybe they will not be so focused on taking the land that we can use for 4x4'ing.
