So we took my friend chev up to browns last sunday for its first shakedown. was supposed to be an easy day just informal, turned out to be a sheet metal smashing snow+stump day lol
We started off with me in my Yota my buddie in his chev and his dad in the jp. Headed out from the gravel pile, following a YJ and a suburban on the powerlines.... got up there and headed up ceder tree, found out a chev on 40's will not fit under ceder tree ...
after we squeezed our way up ceder tree we hit the fire break, no problems with the chutes for the big tires on the chev, but i smacked my wannabe rock sliders (nerf bars lol) on the rock in the middle.
the jp even made it no problem, not to bad with open diffs and a 2" lift lol
.... finnally got to the upper firebreak and ran into some not so deep snow, starting about the mini rubicon area, after we got past this section be were pretty much just fallowing tracks into the thinned woods (headed towards the crushers) finding out that the newest section up there is not to fullsize friendly, and when you meet a group of 5 yotas coming down is hard to get out of the way.... he ended up with this
about 300 yrds up the trail lol..... i hit it too but it hit my door and it popped back out . soooooo after we 80 point turned his truck around on a tree (furthering the damage in the same area) we headed back toward the power lines to check out the double black diamond section, we hit up the mud road on top of the power line trail...
(now i dont know if this is a good thing to post or not considering i wasnt sure if it was a trail but here we go...BTW its already done i cant undo that we drove there. If you want me to remove the video let me know, BUT also tell me if this is a legitimate "trail")
after that we took a look at the double black diamond section, quickly decided that we couldn't even walk up it and moved on... so we took the fast way out and headed up the awesome hill climb on bates road (side note to this.... i removed some fallen trees from the alternative paths so happy wheeling too you, unfortunately i had to hike down from the top to do this and found out amazingly i am....completely out of shape lol )
all and all after 2 years of building this truck with him, taking it from a 73 chev-o-rust to an 85 Rock solid 1ton it was the first time i have been wheeling with him that he did not break lol.... so we must have done something right lol
after this trip we have learned, crossover and stock steering box-pump do not like to turn 40's, 4.11's arnt slow enough, you need to install your transfer case mount BEFORE you wheel, snow+yota's+stumps are BAD lol
