i will try to call you this evening, passenger side external door bars are allowed, i will call and see why you were mis-informed. it isn't a huge track but i would run one if you have one. i have built and wrecked over 30 cars to wgas rules and every one of them had drivers and passenger side external bars. safety is safety.... after enough broken bones in a hobby a person learns not to compromise safety. the build is looking good, i am building cars for wgas in 2009, after 2008's politics we are still undecided if we are running mac or not...... yeti

Their website did say all 2008 cars must meet 2009 rules.
Not sure what the difference is
are you allowed to sledge the trunk before the event to get it to bend up?

Are you just bolting the channel on or welding? Wonder why they only allow 12" of weld per side of door but then ok exterior bars?
Also do you weld you trunk lid at all?

my door bars are bolted through my front and rear cross bars.... i weld the external bars at the ends to the car body. the rules say 12 inches per seam..... they do not use a tape measure, but use some discretion. the trunk can not be welded, i have done it in the past and had to cut it. the bars are still allowable for 2009 as they have always been. there were cars in indio california in feburary that were running them as normal. here is a picture of one of the styles of internal bars i use, this car was destined for mac in july with my wife driving...... it is a 1967 chrysler.......yeti

you can pre-bend the trunk, i notch the frames and tuck the trunks on most of the cars i build. yeti
