Tillamook derby is Aug 8th i believe.......you been in any derbys before? do you know whats coming? lol...... those bumpers are safety bumpers, drill a hole in the bumper shocks to collapse em and then weld them collapsed.... weld that rear end, or buy a mini spool (you wouldnt believe how many people dont).... rig up some kind of shifter that is manual and doesnt use linkage that is either locked out or WONT go into park.... leave the accessories on the engine (smog, ac, ps) but dont run belts (maybe the ps lol) take a small belt and force it over the water pump and crank and take the spacer off the fan..... i prefer not to run zoomies, they are awesome, i will give ya that, but they get in the way and they are notorious for burning plug wires, and will make your eyes burn from the gas smell...... and yeah just remember these are just my opinions and they have worked for me in the past - use to run 3 derbys a year before I moved back to oregon. I got burned out on them. It has been long enough now I got a couple left in me. I never liked zoomies cause there was always some dumbass on the safety crew with a fire extinguisher that got trigger happy when he saw fuel burning in the pipes after your shut down. I didn't see the safety shocks or whatever the collapsable bumpers are. I usually weld em. Shifter I make a real simple t handle that allows me to slam 1st to reverse. I'll post a few pics of old cars after work.

if it was water wouldnt it have to be a really fine mist to kep from hydro locking? maybe it was something they riged up to try and get it thru deq? I don't think they have deq where I picked it up plus being a 73 should be exempt. Not sure. I think it would fail the visual inspection with the carb swap. As far as I can tell it is a one owner car and until 2 weeks ago it was in a barn since they drove it in there in 1996.

I believe that anything 25 years old is exempt from DEQ?

it was just a thought on deq never know when the crap was installed, and with the sigle barrle carb it should be running very lean in my opinion

Ok found it online, in normally aspirated engines it is used for fuel economy. It was big in the 70's. Supposedly 2 to 3 mpg gains.

this was a 66 merc 2dr hard top. i got it free but it had no decklid. I went to the local pick a part and guess what there was a 66 merc 4dr with a perfect deck lid. this car got hit hard. if you look close the fram behind the driver is on the ground and the roof is pushed up.
