went cruising with wife tonight and i noticed the speedo wasnt near close at slow speeds . she says its been doing this for a while since they put new tranny in ( I was out on the road still) so driving it tonight I also noticed a major hesitation in the throttle . not from a dead stop but if i got on it then let off (for traction) then when i got back on it . it took way too long to open up ?? it is suppose to be chipped , but being the fastest car i ever owned ( second place BTW was my first car 1971 t-bird ) i have nothing to compare it too . so should i try to find a program and connectors for my laptop and just start playing , or does anyone here have any good ideas what might be happening.

Did they rechip it or did they reprogram it. From what I have seen with the stangs is you get a programmer and go through that. If it happened after the tranny was replaced it may be one of the settings got set back to stock or not changed to the hotter setting. I don't have a programmer for mine yet or I would let you use it bought the Blazer and been spending all my time and cash on it. I don't think you can use a laptop on the Mustangs like you can the LS1 and LS6 GM's. I am by no means an expert but I think I am right.

Tha is true about the OBDII those computers can be "reflashed" the OBDI computers had to have new chips, that were the EEPROMS. Looking through my Mustang mags most guys are using SCT and Diablosport handheld tuners for these cars. The hand helds reflash the computer so that you can change the tune without having to burn new EEPROMS for every change, These tuners also come with diffrent stages of hoter tunes for each modification you can do to the car. the computer version depending on what comes with it will let you tweek all kinds of things but if you are not careful you can screw things up. The handlelds you hook them up pick the tune and it will load it without messing with parmeters you don't want to change. I do know a kid in my Hydro class last spring borrowed a tuner for his F-250 and ended up having to have the dealer reflash is computer back to tock and he had to buy a new tunner since it fried. Russ, 96zjlarado, works for PSI a new sped shop in Hillsboro. He would be able to help you out a lot more than I can.

I would also recommend Russ at PSI. He is a fellow Poorboy and I've seen his quality work. He would treat you right.

the hesitation problem could be the drive by wire servo being slow. I would recommend picking up an sct or diablo sport predator programmer for your bang for the buck tuning. you could try to put it back to the stock tune or pick from i think 3 preloaded ones on the handheld. the previous owner quite possibly changed something in the tune that caused the drive by wire servo to slow down to act more like a traction control. I've seen people do dumber things. if you have any questions, just let me know. i don't get on here all that often anymore, but countryboy075 let me know about this. Thanks guys... and good luck WOTPOS

this thing is hard to drive in the snow ( says the wifey ) after i pulled it out with our 5 yard loader and removed all the mud and grass from the exhaust , the only thing different to the car is the speedo works again ?
