Dropped the front axle off at Woody's last Wednesday afternoon. Woke up to a message Monday evening that the axle was ready to be picked up. Got out of work this morning, drove up to Vancouver, picked up the set of rollers from Windturbine, then stopped and picked up the axle. Did some running around with Des and grabbed a quick 30 min nap, (woke up yesterday for work at 4pm), and got it bolted up to the springs. My Ramcharger is no longer 2wd ;D Still not sure if I'm going to run the overload springs or not. Mounted them upside down to act as bumpstops. Hoping my shackle angle will improve after weight is on the springs. Did a rough measure of the wheelbase. Came out to be ~116", with moving the rear axle about 4" back and the front axle 5" forward from where it was when it was 2wd. Still need to do some work before assembling the hubs. Want to drill them out for 9/16 lugs and paint the axle. Painted the brake brackets and the Ruffstuff diff cover today while I was getting it installed. Hoping to get the axle put together by Saturday so I can see what my pinion angle will be, and if I'll need any shims.

Besides getting the front axle put together and roller tires put on nothing else. Bought some parts to change some things that I didn't like how it turned out. Been busy trying to get some stuff finished around the house before the rain hit. Got the spring plates from Rufftstuff Specialties, the U-bolts I got made at Oregon Spring Company www.spring-man.com down on Stark St. in Portland. After thanksgiving I plan to be back out in the garage to get the next items done.

I'm a maintenance technician at Intel. The 12.5 hour shifts get long sometime, but can't complain about 3-4 day weekends.

I would, but that would take all the fun out of it. They are at least going to be in my garage in about a week instead of my buddies.

Started cutting on the rear fenders today and more rust removal. Got most of the body cut up to the inner wheel wells. Going to cut the outside sheet metal even with the top of the well then weld in a filler plate between the outside and well. Ran into a small problem though. With cutting the rear quarter panel like I planned to remove the rusted metal and for a little more clearance there still isn't much room for uptravel without the tires hitting the body. To give me more room I may have to make the wheel wells about 5" wider to the rear, which I'm not against, but there is a body strenghtnert, (for lack of better wording), that would have to be cut.
Question is, do you guys think the extra 4" of wheelbase I gained by turning my leaf springs around are worth it due to the extra body work needed? I'm still working with the idea since it would probably be easier to cut and weld the extra metal in now rather then after the cage is built and everything is in the way.
