ok guys(and girls) ive put together a few sbc engines through out my life(very few) . what id like to do here is get opinions from each of you on what you would use to build good 4x4 engine what im looking for here is best combo of parts to make good torque but still run pump gas please go into as much detail as possible like specs for cam, carb, intake, valves, springs, pistons, lifters, rockers ive allways just put the best stuff i could find (at the time)together but was thinking maybe i should go step further and get parts that will actually compliment each other better

Well this is how I would and am building a small block Chevy but this motor is for my every day driver/ mud drag truck/ off road rig. (331cid) – 327 cid with 0.030 over bore large journal steel crank and 6”rods with KB pistons 9.5-9.7 compression have it all balanced, fluid damper, world product sportsman II heads with 64 cc combustion chambers pocket ported, solid roller cam from comp cams .525” lift 224* @0.050 268 advertised duration with a 110* LSA 2,000 RPM-6,000 RPM, polished Edelbrock performer air gap intake port matched to heads and 2” open spacer, jet performance stage 2 Q-jet, timing gears, comp roller rockers with stud girdle, electric water pump, fan and fuel pump, Mallory comp 9000 unalite distributor with high fire ignition and coil, 1.3/4” headers with duel 2.5” exhaust, 2,500 rpm stall converter, there are a few little things here and there but this is the most of it. Guessing around 400 HP and 450 FT LBS.
