is a 14 bolt rear diff a common thing on a 1/2 ton 1500?? 9 1/2 in rear end??is this normal or probably a swap???

i know that they used the 14bolt into the yr 2000 with the 9.5ring gear semi float. as far as putting one in a 1/2 ton that i dont know, but they did but them in vans so why not a heavy tow package 1/2 ton pu ..... i guess thats possible ..... bogger

I've seen some semi float 14bolts with 6 lug but not real common i dont think.

They were a factory option for the "heavy half" ton rigs. They were 6 lug axles in the 1500's and 8 lug axles in the 2500's. You could order them as an option as early as '94 IIRC. We just built one for a customer. Pretty tough axles for a DD or hauler that doesn't seem much offroad/wheeling use.
