Thanks... I am not sure what the HP rating was on the stock motor for 67'. I would guess either the 36 or 40 horse. It is now running a 1776 with dual Kadrons. It's enough to get it going down the road. Would like to add the IRS transaxle and maybe the front spindles off a thing. Right now as it sits it has 1/2" more ground clearance than my Blazer with 39's (dang large diff on the 14bolt..).

Finally got the engine cage and roof rack back from the powder coaters.... Installed the engine cage last night and put on some back up lights. Bought the hardware for the roof rack and installed it today.

now thats just funny haveing more ground clearance in a bug!!!! but i bet that you have better flex in the k-5 than the bug, and 4wd dont hurt either

That's for sure.. You don't have any flex at all.... Sorta funny to watch them go on uneven ground.

I know this is an old topic but Had to put a reply in here any way. Had a 72 that i bought from a buddy back in 01 he took it up to browns camp an ran the bejesus outta it but every time it wrecked into some thing it lost more sheet metal, by the time i got it all there was left was pretty much the passenger compartment, pan an roll cage. It had like 10" ground clearance at the lowest point on 32's. But man was it a blast.
