I'm the one who ended up using the broken front end after we all got home. I used the parts to fix my daily truck. Thank you!!!!

did that front axle actually break or did the tube just pull out of the housing.

did that front axle actually break or did the tube just pull out of the housing. Both...axle snapped, housing tube came out, and diff. housing split. We found out Suburbans CAN'T fly.

looks like oil pushed out the pcv valve grommet and maybe soaked the manifolds? It has a clean wash mark at the valve.

Looked like it was about to melt off the motor, I've never seen an exhaust manifold glowing bright orange like that. The cork gasket is what was on fire, blew it out. Couldn't find the fire extinguiser and was afraid that throwing snow on it would warp it. I should have taken a pic without the flash.

Sounds like it was running lean. Probly the best thing is to let it cool on its own like you did as long as long as the whole thing didn't go up in flames.

Yep , then I had him start it before it got too cool to make sure he didn't warp the valves, and if he did, maybe it would be hot enough to seat them back. or at least it sounded like a good idea?

Ah, the fun memories. The fire was a Little disconcerting! I could make it up if I hadn't taken the chains off of da tires.....the only place I needed them was to make it up the driveway! Suburbans can fly....just land hard.....not recommended. See ya all at summer bash if not sooner.......... Dis rig might become off-road only if I can't get it to pass DEQ! No cat/cats after it was converted from single exhaust to dual exhaust and what air pump...........Doh.
