Not sure. he said it was 3/4 ton. my uncle looked at it and said it was 1 ton. I'd need someone to come out and take a peek at it for me.

take a pic of the diff and 1 knuckle. It looks like 3/4 ton but with the tires being that huge it could be 1 ton and just not look it from the pic. I could tell if you take a pic of the diff or the knuckle. Or look at the right hand spring, is it bolted to the diff with 2 ubolts or 1 ubolt and 2 studs.

I just looked at your last pic, I think it is 3/4 ton because of the 2 ubolts. All the chevy 1 tons I've owned and delt with had 2 studs and 1 ubolt. Cant tell from the pic if it's d44 or 10bolt doesnt really matter they are both close in the strength department.

That thing is cool, I want one! If thats a 10bolt or 44 front I would recommend some chrome molly axel shafts. With that air locker I see and 46's and 454 can you say SNAP! If the popping still happens in high rpms after you get the timing right I would say that it needs fatter jets or maby even a larger carb 800cfm. If it pops right when you stuff the petal to the floor it needs a bigger accelerator pump or a larger squirter orface. I'm a former drag and street racer and Ive had to deal with these problems and thats how I fixed'em. But I'm certainly not an expert. Just trying to help. Cool truck!!

Thats not an air locker I dont think, it looks like a coil hose coming from the vent tube. An ARB requires an airline and a vent tube. For street running and straight mudbogs you will probly ok with that axle but chromemoly is a good idea. If you plan on trail runnin you will eventually break(trust me). If that actually is an air locker or you are gonna put a locker in it then even chromemoly may not be enough. No matter how much it is beafed up it is still ball joint knuckle. You will need to continuosly inspect your ball joints and axle u joints. Pigpin runs 46's on 1/2 ton running gear and did ok until he had a ball joint fail and the knuckle broke off. 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton front axles are the same with the exception on the rotors. They did have about 3 different axle tube thickness. Of course your gonna hear "get a Dana60" but that is spendy. Before you go buy chromoly shafts and u-joints I would save the money for the Dana60. My advice is get the thing running and enjoy it a bit. If you start breaking stuff then decide what ya need to do then.

Yes it's a vent tube. I am going to complete take off the intake manifold and valve covers and make sure there are no loose rockers and there is a leak in the front of the intake manifold i'm redoing. The tuning of this carb is hard it comes with a thick book and dvd.... lol
it has new hubs and everything...for now i just plan on doing mudbogs and sand rig. eventually i'm getting rockwell 2.5 ton military axles for it. figured i'd be paying 1500 for a front dana 60...... or i could pay 2 grand for a 2.5 ton rockwell front axle and 2 grand for the rear... already cut and ready for application.
my other truck snapped when i slammed on the gas and ended up being a loose rocker and an electric wire running to the side of the carb fell off... so i hooked that back up and it ran like a dream.
feel free to come help me guys. i LOVE to do work on it myself but i'd also love to know what i'm doing is right. i can basically figure it out if i do it myself cause it's extremely simple no matter what i do. i just like to plan ahead sometimes and that is what i dont know.
thanks guys for the feedback.
