chevtech-yessir! Topless is the ONLY way to go!
WOTPOS-right now she's got a 350/th350/203/d44-12b. Rear discs, HD shackles, HD tie rod, more replaced stock crap than I ever should have DOH!
She's all tore apart now though for a complete rebuild. She's getting;
454 Keeping the current TH350 (rebuilt to handle the BB less than 2 years ago) 203/205 doubler 4.88 gears D44 8 lug conversion w/ alloy shafts/ARB/ x-over & hi-steer/HS tie rod/HD shackles 14BFF rear w/ rear discs 1 ton HAD shafts custom front/rear bumpers/sliders 38-40" tires (not sure which ones yet) on 17x10 wheels (don't want to have to buy new ones or grind calipers if I can ever find a D60 worth buying. custom family cage dual electric compressors to a remote mount tank so the easy air ups on the trail
Basically, the only parts I'm keeping off it are the tub, tranny, range box off the t-case, and front axle housing. Everything else is getting replaced. Hell, I'm even considering putting the AC back in it just because I can.
A whole bunch of other stuff, but I have to finish all our customers rigs first :grin: No rest for the weary, ya know?

Got some more done. I got the front axle all done (4.88's, detroit, 4340 shafts, super joints, MM Uber hubs w/ iron drive slugs, HD tie rod, set up for x-over) I also relocated my axles 1" forward in the front and 1.5" back in the rear. I ordered up a set of 17x10 wheels made w/ 3.5" of BS to clear the 39.5x16.50x17 Pit Bulls. Still a lot more to do, but she's getting there. I have a bunch of 1.75 x .134 wall HREW that is going to be a full cage here soon, along with some custom bumpers, rockers/sliders, etc. They are never really done..are they?? nice looking rig, but it's a good thing you got rid of the red wheels, they definately didn't look as good as the soft 8's.
