Hello all, It has been a long time since I have dropped you a line but I know how busy everyone has been and with kids back to school and involved with sports most of us can't figure out if we are coming or going.... BUT - there is an important meeting and unfortunately I am unable to attend due to a IOOF workshop that our lodge is hosting. I haven't lost sight of our long range plans - in fact I am working at trying to make "Supervision" a requirement on the National level. I also attended a very well presented class hosted by Parks on Grant writing. They gave an overview of SB101 and all I can say is they have been working VERY hard - I am so proud of them.... I will continue to be involved until SB101 is complete. The meeting information is below and if there is any chance you are able to make it please do. The National folks are coming to present information on short and long range action regarding Forest Service and BLM closures as well as Legislative updates. If they do not have at least twenty signed up it will be canc. as it costs over $7000 to put on. There are only a few people signed up thus far and it doesn't bode well for us when help comes and we don't welcome it. Please make this a priority and represent our group, clubs, etc. well. As we have seen - each one of us can make a difference..... A huge thank you to those who can make it!!! Lindy The National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC), in cooperation with the Oregon Motorcycle Riders Association (OMRA), is conducting a Motorized Route Designation Workshop in October for OHV enthusiasts and other stakeholders. The purpose of this workshop is to assist OHV enthusiasts and other Oregon stakeholders in the effective implementation of the USFS Travel Management Rule. The workshop is designed primarily for OHV enthusiasts, however U.S. Forest Service personnel and other state and federal agency personnel, as well as other stakeholders are welcome and encouraged to attend. There is no charge for this workshop. Continental breakfast will be served at 7:30 AM each day. Lunch and breaks will also be provided. Registration is required on-line at: conference.nohvcc.org/?EVENT&EVENTCODE=010193-36&PASSWORD=4718&template=rdwWOR

(This is a letter from the National Exec. Director of NOHVCC - regarding original canc. due to lack of sign ups - we have a second chance here......please RSVP to him as well if you sign up) All,
I'm Russ Ehnes, the Executive Director of the NOHVCC. I want to first clarify that our first priority is providing the OHV community with information that will help make us more effective during the route designation process. It is NOT TOO LATE for us to hold a Route Designation Workshop in Salem.
That being said, the reason we canceled the workshop was because we had only four registrations and frankly, we couldn't justify the $7,000 it costs to provide the workshop since two of the sign ups were our State Representative and a representative from the Hiking Society who has already been to the workshop in La Grande. We did have problems with on-line the registration program earlier but it was running for the week prior to us canceling and we did not receive any calls from interested folks. Generally, if we've had problems in the past, we've received calls from those who are experiencing trouble registering. We didn't get any calls or messages.
These workshops are fairly expensive and all the costs are being covered by the Motorcycle Industry Council and Specialty Vehicle Institute of America. The MIC and SVIA are still willing to pay for the workshop provided registration is reasonable, say around 20 participants. If we can get a good response by Monday, October 15th, we'll proceed with the workshop. We will re-activate the registration link today to give you a chance to rally the troops and get them to sign up. It will be active after 4:00 pm pacific time today. IF YOU HAVE ANY TROUBLE REGISTERING CALL ANN VANCE AT 888-458-0131!! I would also appreciate it if all of you could e-mail me right away (in addition to registration) with the names of those who you are sure will be attending so I can get an idea of who is coming and how many are coming. It's going to be up to you guys to drum up the participants by Monday. If we have a good showing by Monday, we will gladly proceed with the workshop.
Thanks for your help and feel free to call me if you need anything.

I will step back from the trail repair to go to this. I can't do a whole lot at the trail repair besides physical labor and keep track of paper work, but I'm sure someone else can handle paper work. All registered and emailed the guy, too.

Yep, I'm all in for it. I even have a confirmation number. Sorry I won't make it to the 7Up work party, but I'm not so sure I could do a whole lot of good anyhow. Plus this will be a good educational experience for me.
