Highway 6 (Wilson River Highway) South Fork Road to Timber Road: A contractor is working on a project to pave approximately 11 miles of Highway 6 between South Fork Road (milepost 27.85) and Timber Road (milepost 38.95).
Workers will install protective fencing near Storey Burn Road (milepost 32.96) and will continue to install new drainage pipe throughout the project. Work will occur Monday, Dec. 5 through Thursday, Dec. 8 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Work hours for Friday, Dec. 9 are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Flaggers will control traffic and motorists should expect 20 minute delays and congestion through the project area.
Highway 6 (Wilson River Highway) Bateman Creek Bridge: A contractor is now working on a project to replace a culvert and fish ladder on Highway 6 with a bridge. The current culvert, located near Lyda Drive, milepost 40.9, is impassible to fish.
Traffic has now been reduced to one lane 24 hours a day until approximately March 31, 2006. A traffic signal system is being installed at the construction site. The signal system will control both directions of traffic, which will alternate use of the single travel lane. As part of this project, the west end of Lyda Drive will also be closed until about March 31, 2006. Motorists traveling along this section of Highway 6 should expect delays.
