Are all gear manufactures the same, or are others more reliable than others? I'm changing my d60 and d44 from 3.73 to 4.56. I've read on Pirate and other sites that recommend Dana, superior and Yukon gears, but Speedway seems to rave about the G2 gears which seem to be less expensive. I need to buy new gear if I can't find good used sets.

G2 gears are in my opinion garbage, ran a set in the FRONT of my Toyota, went through 3 lifetime warranty sets until told randys to just send me some yukons and never looked back..
IIRC, and im sure you know this, but those axles have a carrier split, so you will either need a "thick" gear set or a new carrier for 4.1 and above on the 14bolt and 4.0 and above on the dana44......
At least from memory this is correct lol

Thanks yukon is what I was leaning towards. I have a d60 4 series spool and will get d44 thick unless I find a cheep 4 series d44 open carrier. I want to cut down on the rotating mass, but I don't think the extra weight of a thick gear will make much difference.

So I order US Standard gears from 4wdfactory. They give PB's a good discount if you call them. Evidently these gears are Yukon gears that did not pass quality control, but do go through the same process. I've seen good feedback on other forums about these gears.
