After summer bash, Roni asked me how a few people got into wheeling... It kinda got my curiosity running.
Ill tell my back story, keep in mind I'm dog ass tired from a 12hour day, and a few beers in the belly haha, hopefully i don't ramble too much.
For as long as I can remember I was fascinated with trucks, specifically four wheel drives, I remember being in the bathtub as a little kid, Probably around 86-87, I was either 5 or 6, My dad came rushing in hollering about these trucks on TV, That was the first time i saw Monster trucks.
I remember hearing stories he would bring back from deer hunting, about gumbo mud, jeeps, chaining up, "the skid road."
My dad had a maroon 79 Chevy Cheyenne, with a small block 400.. I know theres a picture of him driving it across a river, going to a campsite out at Flying "M" ranch, with me in the carseat, i was around three years old.
A few years after he sold that, he bought a 2wd 69' 3/4ton chevy from his Dad, that's probably why I turned out to be a chevy guy Although around 1991-92, be bought a 4wd 84 f250..... I was stoked to have a 4wd back in the family, plus the 460+glasspacks sounded bad ass haha.
Fast forward to me getting my license, year 2000. The first rig i had was a primer grey 77' jimmy on 38 inch tsl radials, with 8" super lift springs, and bushwhacker cutouts. A buddy of mine with a 75 long box chev on 35"s, and I, did a lot of muddin around Buxton, Im not sure if it was illegal back then or not, no one seemed to really give a shit, and we didnt know any better... Mind you this was before the internet really had a hold on...... everything, in the world.
Ended up rolling that rig out by hagg lake in 01'. Then i bought the 84 that i currently have, and swapped the parts over, (halfton axles, 8inch springs, motor tranny tcase etc.) and it was my daily driver. Shortly thereafter i got on the internet to look at pictures of other trucks, thats when i found "whiteknight" from Canada, back when it was stilll a fullsize k5 blazer, somehow that led me to Top Truck Challenge 01' and Stephen Watson's green k5, he had a sticker on the windshield for Coloradok5.com. I logged on ck5, "Silver84k5." which led me to Pirate. Both of which led me to, one tons, different springs, doubler, motor, cage, narrow, etc etc. Pirate led me to Poorboy via, Jason's build thread in the chevy forum
Thats the summary basically, I started telling stories but had to delete it, it started turning into a damn book
