So long story short... my truck is now located 5 miles from Rogers camp...
I would like to be abe to drive my 20 mpg car to it, then just drive it up the road. however it is not at all street legal or currently registered or insured or fun to drive fast (death wobble over 45-50)...
SO does anyone know the legality of just throwing a triangle of slowness on this thing and driving it down the shoulder (i know would make for a fun trip with all the idiots lol me included)
dont even know if its worth it due to the shoulder being so small most the way up and i would hate to be a nuisance to traffic... but sometimes yea just gotta wheel lol

I believe all rigs off roading need to be insured now on public lands

oh yes... i understand this.. this would also be a big reason why i would not try this without proper knowledge lol...
FWIW, i do understand insurance (well why they say we need it).... but seriously, i know some here may have it, but have you seen anyone with a non street legal crawler with insurance.
If they start enforcing that, they might as well start enforcing, mudflaps, fender flairs, lighting laws, seat belts, bead locks, emissions, so on and so on lol... i mean really...
But yea, after reading the revised statues, its a no go anyway

Yes my non street legal wheeler has insurance on it. If your rig is that unsafe why would you want to risk other people to drive it on the road anyway. If you need to wheel that bad maybe its time for a trailer and a tow rig.

I would see if you could rent or borrow a trailer if you have a rig that can tow it.....trying to drive it there isn't worth the risk IMO

X2. The state cop in that area is an evil PITA... Just a couple weeks ago I overheard him complaining about getting dragged into court over a ticket he wrote.
The ticket he wrote was for "improper fit of a seatbelt". Yes... the person was wearing a seatbelt but didn't have the shoulder height set correctly (was wife’s car) and the state officer game him a ticket for it.
FYI.. He is also the officer that gave me a ticket for “no mirror extensions”. Well there is not a law for that, so he gave me a ticket for “no rearview mirror” (witch I had). I also had with me mirror extensions that I offered to put on, but nope… He HAD to give me a ticket.
If he sees you driving down the road, can you imagine what he will give you a ticket for?

I have a tow rig, and a trailer.. that was not the point..
the point of this question was to ask if anyone knew if it was legal, not if i should do it. in that aspect i answered my own question after the fact...
let me say this my rig is NOT unsafe, just not fun to drive with the unbalanced tires/loose suspension, and with the tires sticking so far out and such i couldn't pass a cop without getting pulled over i know this... if i wanted too i could spend the money to buy mudflaps, fender flairs, get it registered and insured and drive it legally on the road. i do not care that much, i will just tow it..
