So I had my trans(700r4) rebuilt alittle over a year ago now I'm getting a knock when its hot and in park only. It will knock a few times than go away for a few sec and than come back.
It sounds like its coming from the around the back of the trans to the transfer case. as soon as I put it in gear it goes away.
So far I pulled my torque converter cover and all the bolts where tight and the flywheel appears to be good just to be sure. The fluid is clean and full it shifts fine and I haven't had any problems.

I wouldn't think it's the transfer case as none of the parts should be moving while in park. I know you said that you looked at the flywheel, but sometimes a crack is hard to see without removing it.

Ya I just took a peak while I spun it around I haven't been able to listin to it running with the cover off yet but I swear its coming from the rear I used a auto stethoscope and its loudest at the rear of the trans on the driver side where that round cover thing is lol not sure what its called. But I know the sound will travel trough everything doesn't mean that's where its actually coming from.
Is there any moving parts in the rear of the trans while in park? I can't remember but isent there a bearing in the adapter from the trans to tcase?
I'm puzzled cause the trans is strong I don't feel like its going to fail me I just spent a few bucks having one built the way I wanted I love it. If there is something wrong with the trans I want to fix it befor I smoke the hole thing

I took alook at the flexplate while it was running and its deff warped its wobbling all over still can't tell if that's where the sound is coming from but it deft needs replaced so I'm going to start there and hope the sound goes away

That round thing at the back left side of the transmission is the governor. The governor only spins (moves) when the rear shaft rotates. When the transmission is in park the rear transmission shaft does not rotate, so I would not thing anything in the rear of the transmission would be the problem. Sounds like you should look at the flexplate a little closer.

i took the bolts out of the torque coverter and slid it foward and took a better look there is nothing i can see and i taped on it and it has a nice ring to it but im still going to replace it.
im thinking its something simple and im just over thinking it lol like some loose bolts or maybe a bad trans mount

My transmission cover was bent up into the flywheel that caused a rattle that got faster as the motor rpm's increased. Almost sounded like the old card in the bicycle spokes.

A little wobble is normal, it's stamped steel so ..... I've had a cracked flex plate make a lot of racket but not from the rear of the trans, it was cracked starting at the center and was just about as loud as a spun rod bearing.

Ya I had a few laying around I checked and they wernt straight either. I'm thinking it has to be the mount cause its the closest thing to where the noise is coming from and my trans shifts really hard and I have never changed it

still cant figure it out i put a new mount in and its still doing it. its like a tapping when its in park and neutral when its hot and at idel. it will go away with a tiny bit of gas it shifts and drives down the road the same as the day i put it in. i did put a new converter in also when i had it rebuilt so i dont think it would be that.
i guess im going to have to take it in somewhere and have someone look at it i just dont know any good trans shops around here
