I am at a crossroads with my truck where it is definitely getting Rockwells. I had planned on keeping my old running gear for a different build but that probably isn't gonna happen for quite some time. So I am torn on how to sell it.
I have way too much money wrapped up in it to to sell it whole and not take a huge hit on it. I am not sure about parting it out either. Here is what I have.
Dana 60 ($1000)when it was stock
No Ring and Pinion, it broke
Ox Locker($1200)also have stock carrier
Reid Racing knuckles(drilled for bolts, no taper)($500)
Mt. Logan drive flanges($150ish)
Superior chromoly axles(the better of the two they offer$1600)
Nitro U-joints($380)
Double Ended PSC ram ($3-400) plus tie rods
Gear spacer for lower gears($$)
High clearance 1350 yoke ($100?)
As you can see there is over $4000 invested when the parts were new( a few were discounted)
I also have a lot of brackets welded to the housing that would most likely need removed for other applications. This wouldnt be too hard just time consuming. The way I welded everything on I made it to where the spring perches could be salvaged and the axle could be reinstalled on a leaf spring vehicle(with a few hours of grinding)
If I thought I could find a buyer I would by new gears for it and sell it as a set with my rear axle which is,
14 bolt
shaved
3/8" thick cover
homemade truss
sky manufacturing disc brakes
Superior chromoly axle shafts($295ea)
5.38 gears
So what do you think the interest would be in a complete axle vs parts? I am very aware that what I pay new is not what I will get out of it used and used hard.
