Anyone have ideas for a budget hydraulic steering conversion? I've seen a jeep with some sort of a valve control at the bottom of the steering shaft and also made mods to a chevy power steering pump, but not sure just how to do it. I am getting an old IH B275 tractor with a loader and the manual steering sucks. I can buy a bolt on conversion made for the tractor. but it's $1,200 plus shipping and tariffs from Canada. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A chevy steer pump, a hydro cylinder from a farm store (about $150?), an orbital, and some lines are all ya need. Not sure on the price of an orbital valve but I have seen the rams for between $99 and $250 depending on the size. Oh and a resivoir for the pump.

Forklift wrecking yard is a great source for all the parts. Thats where I got the parts for the buggy I built. Realy cheep... You can usualy get hoses from them that have the serviceable ends, so that you can remove the end, cut it to the length you need and re-install the end.

The tractor has a pump, so hopefully all I need is the orbital valve, hydro cylinder and hoses.
