So I wanted to camp at jones creek the weekend of the 30th of this month but I know the camp ground is closed. Is there a lot of camp sites near the river still that you can camp at? It's my b-day weekend and wanted a place near a river for fishing yet near some off roading also. Is there a better place I should look at? Thanks

Not really any camp spots along hwy 6 anymore. There is a disperse camping spot about a mile up Ben Smith Road off of hwy 6. Ben Smith Road is right near Lee Camp mile post 24.5. About a mile up Ben Smith Road is a bridge to the left, turn left and cross that and there is a camp spot just to the right. Not sure how the fishing is on Ben Smith Creek, but it is close to the Wilson River.

There are some good open campgrounds in the Jones Creek area, and they are POORBOY priced FREE !!!!! Drive past the pay campsites, the road will split take the right up the hill, follow that past diamond mill m/c camp (on the right down hill) You can also camp here but it is very open and can be busy but it does have bathrooms. Follow road till it y's over a bridge to the right take the bridge and there are several campsites from here till the road ends due to washouts. If these are full go back to Y and go a ways further and there are a few spots along a creek. These are primative campsites so remember to pack out what ya pack in. Also there are a ton of sites back at the 1st Y after the pay camp but only a few are free.... Hope this helps
