Was down at Sand Lake today, and the Rangers have "18 and under have to wear helmets" shoe polished on their windows to let people know they want them to wear them.

didnt under 18 always have to wear helmets other than in unregistered trucks and sandrails? At least they are giving a warning.

I still think it's odd that over 18 isnt required to wear them. Gotta wear all the gear up north (Washington) Saves alot of lives offroad on quads/bikes.

I for one "always" wear a helmet... when im riding, but if im camped in the sand and i have to head towards the b-room, i wouldnt necessarily wear it to do that, but most the time i do anyway... There are tickets cops can give you if they think you are acting unsafe (careless/wreck-less driving applys to OHV's also) but most of the time its when you dont expect it that you will need a helmet (like when you meet the idiots on the one way going the WRONG way)....

it is pretty well marked once you get back into the trees past the 2nd bowl/ hill climb pretty much need to be on a quad to get to it then they have a few (not enough) wrong ways signs up also

I beilieve the one way has always been heading north along the west side. Sort of clockwise around the OHV area.

Courtesy... lol. really... what a joke, i mean hay if he wants to let him ride the "wrong" way while me and my 700lb grizzly go the "right" way...
Maybe i will make up some signs saying suggested one way --->
I mean hell they have oneway trails at browns camp and they dont enforce them, but they have em, and this is more of a safety thing than those at browns....
and yes if you go to the smaller bowl and go along the west side of the trees there is a "major" trail entrance that goes down and in lol....

The one way trail really starts way back by the first bowl. On the top going north on the west side like Mike say'd. It drops down between the first and second bowl and has a big off cambered area between the first and second bowl that is fun to play on. Most people pick up the trail right after the second bowl, but they do miss some of my fave spots on that trail...
The Courtesy part.. that bugs me because it is the one trail at sand lake I have alway's went faster on thinking that I would not hit someone going the wrong direction... I looked for the signs Yesterday and could not find any of them any more...

I had a freind hit someone head-on on the one way trail,we were going the right way and he started yelling at her saying it was her fault, neither person or bike was hurt thank god.Another one that get's me is people riding along the edge of the bowl,i hit a guy head on at the top of the bowl,he was riding on the top edge not even looking where he was going and blamo, threw me off my bike totaled his bike and the guy never said one word to me.

I have always ridden the trails as one way. last year i found out that there is NO actual one way trails at Sandlake. The sheriffs take the signs down when they see them for liability reasons. I always tell my wife and son to ride as if nobody is watching for them
