i got new headers and they leak,,i bought new header gasket and doubled the gaskets up,,they still leak on one side only,,,the old gasket was totaled i could see where it had leaked out and now the new gaskets are in ,,it still leaks,,does anyone have a garage or shop and some tools with experience that could help me out on a sunday or monday???ill bring beer of your choice 8-)sunday is best but monday works 2, im in salem and ill drive to portland area if i need to!!!just tell me what to bring for parts and beer!!!!

Need a little more info. What kind of rig? What brand headers? Where is the leak at on the header? At the flange on the heads, or at the collector?

leak is at the flange,,1992 chevy Z71,,5.7L 350,,flowtech headers

Thats why people call them headaches Sometimes wires or other stuff gets pinched and they won't seal. Welds on the primaries might be protruding or bolts to long. I have had to pinch primary tubes so the wrench would fit to get tight and have had to grind the wrench to fit too. Last ditch effort would be extreme temp rtv Good luck

summit sent me a new set of header gaskets,,i put them on today and finally no more annoying leaks ;D

yeah, my suggestion was going to be thick copper gaskets. The problem with most headers is that the heads and the headers are different materials and heat/cool differently so you need to get a gasket material that is pliable enough to warp and bend with the flanges but thick enough to stay contoured to the heads.
Thus, thick copper.

im finally happy they dont leak,,,,thanks for info i might just go out and get some thick copper gaskets, so there wont be any more leaks,,,,,

heres a pic of the headers after a few miles on em i wish they woulda stayed black,like when i bought em,after bout 50 miles they turned that ugly color,,is there a paint or powder coat to keep em l;ookin good??

there is a ceramicoat you can do to em, dont know who does it around here.
