We tore it apart and put in smaller CC'd inserts for the cool heads. His compression went from 150 lbs to 170 :-).. We went from 22CC's down to 20 CC's. We can go as low as 15 CC's but we would have to run straight race gas at that time. We also took it in to Extream preformance to have the carbs cleaned and tuned. They will give it a once over and make sure it is ready for this summers riding.

Yes Josh.. You are right. It's easy to forget he is only 13.. Ugh... I hadn't planned on putting in the smaller CC'd domes... We removed the head to fix a water leak, and well.. Tyler kinda conned me into letting him put the higher compression inserts in. Ugh that kid has some skills like that Tyler explained how the faster response and better acceleration (by putting in those inserts) would help him be safer because the bike would have better bottom end and he would not need to double clutch it as much if he gets in trouble doing those tree digs. Of course I bought it hook line and sinker. The guys at the bike shop really liked the setup on Tylers Banshee. They said it should be A LOT stronger after it is tuned correctly with those inserts. Two of their own bikes (The Banshee guy and the owner) have their personal bikes setup the same way and they love them.

you go tyler.................looks like you were working in the bathroom lol more power less eng. stress ha ha Yes the pics were taken in the bathroom after cleaning the inserts. LOL.. Now he is talking about "needing" to run race gas in the bike because of the extra compression. It also hurts my foot now to start the blasted thing. I'm hoping after the tuning it will not take more then a couple kicks to get it started when it's cold.

I got my head shaved on my banshee and after that it was, and still is, a pain in the but to start. sometimes I dont even try, I go strait for the starter fluid and spray a little in through the boost tube, starts up everytime. but im just lazy like that

Boost tube? You will have to show me :-).. I stopped by the shop and they showed me how easy it starts at the moment. 1/2 kick when cold :-).. I hope it stayes like that.
We turn off his cockpit and run it out of gas before we put it away. That might be part of the issue. I noticed at the race shop they didn't turn off the cockpit on his bike so it already had gas in it and ready to fire.

mine does the same thing on cold starts. it takes quite a few kicks. 150 seems a little low on compression. should be 160 stock. what size jets is he running in that thing?

Mine has the stock head and starts great, let me get some new tires then we will race and see if those cool heads are worth a damn.
Nice Banshee Tyler, thanks for letting me ride it a couple weeks ago.

Stock compression in a Banshee is about 130 PST. His compression is right about what it should be. See the chart below. Sea Level 1000' 2000' 3000' 4000' 5000' 18cc 197 178 171 170 165 145 19cc 183 167 160 158 152 137 20cc 169 156 149 146 140 129 21cc 156 145 138 134 128 121 stock 130 125 118 112 106 100 This link might be easier to follow. You have to scroll down a bit to see the chart. www.nossmachine.com/banshee_heads.htm Josh :-).. Your Banshee isn't close to stock :-).. But I'm sure Tyler would love to race you. We might be down at sand lake this weekend to try out the setup.

More weight just makes mine hook up better, it looked to me that Tyler doesn't have enough weight to get the tires to hook up so it might be close. Rusty, no way I can make it down this weekend but I'm trying to plan a camping trip there in the next month or so. Let us know if his setup is working better after it gets tuned.

Mine with the stock head fires on the first or second kick all the time.

Do you guys turn off the gas and run it out at the end of the ride? We do it to keep the carbs cleaner. Then the next time we go to start it, I have to kick it over 4-5 times with the run switch off to get gas in the motor. Then turn on the switch and try and start it. If it doesn't start within 5 kicks after that, I let it sit for 5 ish minutes and it fires right up.
I'm hoping that after it is tuned correctly I will not have to go through this process.
