1.75" .134 wall HREW... that way the bends dont get any thinner than .120 wall which is what most competitions require.

What rig is it for? The Jimmy? If so, you'll want at least 6 attachement points, preferably through the floor with reinforcment plates w/ sheer pins.
I am building one fo rmy blazer. It will attach at the front (not going through the fire wall this time) on the floor, right behind the drivers seat, and all the way in the back by the tail gate. There will be 3 main hoops with a gusset at each bend. I am doing something a bit different with my cross bracing. It will literally be a web of tube work (think spider web). The seat mount and harness mounts will be integrated into the cage. The only part of the interior that will not be able to be removed by pulling the cage out is the t-case shifter.
I will most likely tie the cage into the frame to really stiffen it all up. I am at least 2-3 months out on this, but I have the design done.

on the scout I am doing something similar to Shane but he is doing main hoops from left to right... I am doing hoops front to back. Cross braces in the middle and 3 across the front (2 at dash 1 at roof-line).
I am toying with making the two hoops cross each other (notched and welded to fit together where they cross) so the right hoop ends on the left and the left ends on the right.
That will give me a little added strength and give me a place to mount a spare tire/jack/etc...

spider web design sounds frickin cool i like the idea of main hoops front to rear cause i think it will help beef up frame ( going topless fulltime ) and i want to have cross bars above windshield, behind front seats, above rear seats, and behind rear seat . maybe i can do a web for hi lift and spare behind rear seat also . oh and big X on top how important is cross bar at dash level ?

when it comes time to get building let me know i can get steel at a discount rate ;D how much for a 20' stick of 1.75 DOM .34 ? DOM comes in even sizes like 1.25 x. 25 wall, or 1.75 x.125 wall. HREW comes in the odd sizes i.e. 1.5 x .120, 1.75 x .134, etc. It'll help when you go to order tube. That way you know exactly what you are getting.
