I'm thinking about converting my '88 2wd suburban into a 4wd. I have been looking into it and checking out what it might take, really doesn't look very hard to me but just wondering if anyone out there has any experience in this. The reason I would do this instead of just buying a different burb is because it is a 3/4 ton already equipped with a low mileage TBI 454, front and rear a/c and is in vertually perfect shape (except for a little paint peeling). I would be using it for my tow rig but don't wan't to get stuck @ Sand Lake anymore. I was thinking I would just buy a donor truck (or rolling chassis) that would have all the front brackets, springs, axle and steering components I would need. What do you guys think, please don't tell me that I should just sell it and get a 4wd, because they didn't put 454's into 4wd burbs untill the newer body style in '92 and there too expensive for me.
Thanks, Josh

I say go for it, hell, if/when you do do it, give a yell, if I have the time, I'd come out and help.

not sure if the frames are close enough for a straight bolt in but if I can make a mustang 4x4 then I'm sure you can do a burb.

You can do anything. I have a 3/4 4x4 minus body if you need any measurements or pics. Good luck

It's not exactly bolt in, but it isn't that hard either. Plan on a good long weekend and you'll get it done.
