Just use a 3/8" or 1/2" drive ratchet only. I can't remember exactly what size, but one of those 2 fits in there perfect.

If it's an female put you ratchet in it, open end wrench the other. If it gives you crap then put some heat on it

Get someone to weld on a piece of square or hex bar stock so you can get a wrench around it to remove. Then just replace with a new one.

dont suppose you have a welder? I had one I welded a bolt to it and then ended up leaving it that way.

also if your going to run it to a welder might just stop in to jiffy lube and ask to talk to the MGR best chanc of him knowing what he needs to know. when I was a shop supervisor for qlube witch now is all jiffy lubes we had a tool that was made to go in to the striped out check plug on the dif and they got new ones just make sure they use anti sieze on the threads of the new one they would probly do it for 5.00 at least that what we use to do. good luck
