Hi Everyone,
Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) will be doing maintenance work on the sections of the Powerline Trail that they use to access the powerline poles. They will not be doing any work on the sections of the Powerline Trail that are trail only sections, such as the east end of segment 4b and segment 4e Little Rubicon Trail.
The work they are doing is mostly routine maintenance. It will include grading some sections of trail to address water flow and erosion issues, construction of rolling dips and water bars to move water off of the trail, replacement of an old culvert with a larger culvert that will facilitate fish passage (this project is complete), and surfacing the trail with a 3 to 4 inch lift of rock.
The bulk of the work is scheduled to begin this month. At this time they do not have plans to close the trail while they are working on it. We will keep you informed if we learn otherwise.
The Powerline Trail is an important access route for BPA. From a maintenance perspective BPA’s and ODF’s first priority is to maintain it in such a way that BPA service vehicles can negotiate the trail in order to conduct powerline maintenance and repair work while at the same time maintaining the OHV trail opportunity that it provides.
Later this weekend we will be sending out an e-mail to our OHV contacts to inform trail users about the BPA work. We wanted to let you (Flatbroke) know first. I have met with the with BPA representatives to review the work and plan to meet with them and the contractor again once the work gets started.
Let us know if you have any questions.
