Well as some of you know i have been trying to get this thing done for a while, made some progress in the past week.
Got the rear 14B FF in today, and bolted up the 38.5/16/15 Swampers to see how it looks.
While i have a few days before the BBT shows up with Sammy parts i am going to try and get the engine swapped, and the rear disc conversion finished.
This is what i started with 2yrs ago.
1985 K5 with bad 305,T400/208 10B F&R,all power,and 31/10.50/15 AT's.Paid $500.00 for it.
This is the swap to 8 lug front 10bolt.(notice the 74 doors, soon to be trail doors)
This with 35.14/16.5 after putting the 8 lug stuff on.
this is how it sits as of this morning.
So the build goes something like this:
1985 K5 with 14BFF rear w/Detroit and 4.56, Sky rear disc conversion.Sky shackle flip in the rear w/factory 2" lift springs,Spring plates made by MuddyTazz(these things are nice, thanks Jeff)Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks, front and rear, low mileage SBC crate motor i picked up for $200.00,T400 w/205 HAD f&R,SS extended brake lines, front 10b w/4.56 welded and completely rebuilt($200 w/ lift ;D) 6" Skyjacker f/springs. 38.5/16/15 Swampers on 8 lug Chrome spokes ($150),so with all the parts i have sold off of it,and bought for it i am right at$1400.00 including the cost of the vehicle.
Does this qualify as a PoorBoy project?
Would have done more, but needed to show support for a friend, neighbor and co-worker who has cancer,we had a fund raiser at Wall Steet Pizza this afternoon for him,so i put the tools away early.
He had his liver removed a few months ago,and recently was diagnosed w/lung cancer.
He goes in for lung cancer surgery on the 6th, i hope everthing works out for him.
I have watched this person come to work everyday,he gets out and works on his boat or Camaro even though he is in a great deal of pain and discomfort,he still has the strenghth to help his neighbors when they need it.
What does this have to do with my rig you may ask, alot!
It gives me inspiration to go work on it even though i may be tired or lazy,it makes me realize how precious and short life is.
It gives new meaning to the phrase "Get 'r done".
