when i replaced the wheel bearing i replaced the axle too. the new one i put in didn't go in all the way and i didn't know that.. i figured it would have cause it all bolted up smoothly and i turned the rotor and the front axle rotated (had it in 4hi) i tried hammering the end of the axle and getting it to go inside the diff but it won't go in any further..any suggestions?

Not sure what axle you working on but if you had to pound it then you may have knocked the inner seal in the axle. You have to center the axle when you get to the diff you cant just slide it along the tube and have it go all the way in.

i took the diff cover off and checked.. pounded the axle in a little further..... still not all the way in 'it seems' but when i put it in 4hi off road you can't even feel a bump or anything like the knuckle is binding... so i'm guessing everything is fine....
thanks man

was the new axle's splines rusty or worn? shouldn't have to pound them in but as long as it works I guess.
