>>The Can Opener section of Archers FB 4WD trail recently had the boulders
>>removed and a lift of pit run applied. The reason for this temporary
>>modification was that ODF received several reports from 4WD users who
>>said the previous boulder placement was practically impassable. An
>>opportunity arose while the ODF Road Crew was in the area doing FEMA
>>work and had walked the large excavator up C Line Road. While this
>>machine was available we opted to remove the boulders. Road Crew removed
>>the boulders and placed pit run to protect the trail as a temporary
>>measure. ODF intends to work with users to reinstall the boulders when
>>road access is restored to this area. At present the only way to get a
>>full size excavator up to this location is to walk it in. This is very
>>time consuming and not cost effective. Repair work on C Line Road needs
>>to be completed before an excavator on a trailer can make this grade.
>>Other routes including Archers Rd. Ben Smith Rd, and Portland Mills Rd.
>>are too steep for an excavator on a trailer. When repairs to C Line Road
>>are completed ODF will work with 4WD users to re-install the boulders
>>and build challenge back into this section of trail. For information on
>>the status of C Line Road contact the Forest Grove District at

# 28 Archers Firebreak. The Can Opener section of Archers FB 4WD trail has been repaired and the boulders have been put back in place. Representatives from the 4WD community and ODF staff and an equipment operator met on site on Saturday, Nov. 24th. The users worked with ODF to direct the placement of the boulders to create a black diamond level rock crawl on this section of trail.
