I used 1.5in 120 wall dom on my red jeep, seemed to hold up well, I would probably use a 188 wall dom if I did it again.

I used .120 wall ERW on mine. Like Willynilly said I'd use thicker material too if I did it again. Also, plate your frame where the slider attaches. I slid into a tree last year and the slider bent all the way up to the body and bent the frame where the support bars were welded. I know there called sliders not crash rails, but it still sucks doing it twice.

I ran .120 wall welded seam on the bronco. Not a great idea. First good hit and they bend and crushed. I will run dom or .25 wall welded seam when I replace them this winter.

for sliders.... if there not attached to your exo cage or the like Ive used pipe. its cheap and usually does the job very well.
I have a stinger/baja style pipe bumper on my DD and it holds up pretty well to pushing scrap rigs and has bounced off a couple of rocks too

Yep like fourxlife said do it right the first time. Use either 188 dom or .25 wall hrew... And if you can afford it dont use gas pipe, it will work but it crushes crazy easy...

I had .120 hrew after a few trips into the crushers I couldn't open my door anymore. My buddy runs same thickness DOM and his did the same thing. I also know a guy who runs schedule 40 sliders and he drives like a crazy mofo and his ended up smashed into the door. I would definately do .188 wall for sliders. I'm trying squaretube sliders on my scout. see how they work.

mine are 2" x 2" x .250 wall with 1.5" x .250 hrew tube coming out from the side about 3 inches. i've hit them pretty hard before and slid into trees with them quite a bit and they've held up pretty well.
