Our plan is to try out the dual tranny set up for a while ,(it might not be low enough geered) If we don't like it we'll just dump a small block chevy in it with th350-np203. We have several good ones layin arround the shop. I've been wanting to try out the 2-5 speeds thing for a while but wasn't sure what to put it in. The guys on Pirate weren't figuring it would be good for bigger than 39.5 tires but I wanted to build it this way. The tires were just laying there.. Go big or go home, Right?

Looks like a heck of a beer fueled project! What about removing that second 5 speed and putting a SM420 or the like in it's place. The SM420 has a 7:1 low gear and is alot shorter than that Toyota box you're using. That would bring all your shifters up like a foot and you'd still have a 1:1 when you dont want to use a compound low. Think of it, crawl ratio of 288:1 assuming stock W56 Toyota box, stock transfer case and 4.56 gears And! You'd have 4 reverse speeds! And yes, Rabbit... I do think that would happen.

If the shifting becomes a problem, He could easily cut/extend/bend the shifter arm to be placed anywhere he wanted it to.
Keep up the fun work!

Thats why I was thinking about moving the seat back a little> you will do most of your shifting with the 2nd tranny. So moving the seat back a little to make shifting it easier and extend or bend the front shifter, some if needed.

We got hydrolic steering for it. So we can mount the steering valve where ever we want. Maybe we should put it in the back seat... LOL.

There is a guy that pulls in the Sublimity Harvest Festival every year with a truck named that, "Back Seat Driver". Its a quad cab Chevy I think.

The toyota 5 speeds are 21 spline at both ends. With a coupler on the back. So the two trannies spline right together. It is a budget build and we already had the trannies and I don't have axcess to anyone to make a coupler from the w56 to the sm420. That would be great though. Maybe you can hook me up.... With two 5 speeds and a transfer case it has 10 reverse gears...
