nope, all were just pitted on the sealing surface, the rotators just ate the seal away since it was just cast iron.

I guess I wasn't really getting the correlation of sunk valve to warped head. You got any experience with the old Garret's?

no, and don't really plan on taking the turbo apart this time around, there's no shaft play in any direction so I don't want to screw with it too much, I might rip apart my spare Garret since the exhaust housing is cracked...
I don't think the sunk valves and warped head are correlated, just the combination of issues with the parts at hand...

I was wondering what the free spin was on them. Was just checking out the turbo going on is all. There's a guy in newberg that does impeller upgrades and rebuilds on the cartridges cheaper than any one else I'm thinking about doing it if there's a problem with my 093 kit.

Not sure what he charges but he does a lot of stuff for the idi diesels. I know his up grade includes a better cold side housing and he said he can go a smidge bigger than the obs stroke impeller. If and when I get it done I'll let you know $.

Ordered a WHOLE BUNCH of parts tonight, around $320 worth which will cover everything but the head work (and also includes a heater core and radiator cap for my Tracker)... Trying to get it done sometime in February so the engine is broken in by my wheeling trip in April.

He told me there's another item he's willing to trade his services for, I'll share in PM or text. When I go to pick my turbo up, if your off and want to come with and see what he can do for one of your turbos I can let you know ahead of time before I go.

The one that was on my truck is in good shape, I don't think I'm going to screw with it... having a backup wouldn't be a bad idea but with tires and engine rebuild parts (not to mention the .17 HMR) I've spent just under a couple grand in the last 3 weeks . If you go on a Saturday or Sunday I wouldn't mind riding along to ask some questions... That said, tranny is 75% rebuilt right now just waiting on a 5/reverse slider, honed the cylinders tonight, all parts but valve springs are here, head is in the Tracker waiting for me to get to a machine shop, new tires should show up at the tire shop this week, new heater blower housing is modified and installed. Things are finally coming together and I'm getting anxious!

The next couple weekends will probably be taken up with Ranger assembly processes, would like to have it driving this time next month but that probably won't happen... I'll hopefully get ahold of a machine shop tomorrow...

It's just about a afternoon affair. As soon as I hear something I'll let you know and if you want to go I'll swoop you up. Right now I'm not planning a week day pick up since I'm on weekend off schedule for the next couple weekends. Ill text you this weekend, I can probably come lend a hand.

All easy stuff for now, lot of waiting for little details... hard to put the engine together without a head, hard to put a head together without valve springs, who knew getting new valve springs for a 2.3L would be this hard? Napa has 2 in Seattle, Rock Auto has them but they want $20 to ship 8 springs, Northern Auto has them for about $40 shipped but might as well get them for that through Oriely or something for about the same price... Not to mention finding all the parts that have been scattered around since I started taking things apart in August or September...
I'll roll with anything though, a second opinion on a few things wouldn't be bad...

Ok, rotating assembly is assembled! Have the head back from the machine shop so next step is to do a little port work on the head and intake manifold and continue the assembly process.
