since i have been short on cash and the boggers im running just dont seem to cut it.... i decided to experiment today.... took some old leaf springs (samurai) and made my own chisel. sharped the crap outa it. heated it up with a little propane torch and went to town... result as fallows took me about 15 min to do a rough cut on the outside tread of the tire. i will go back and take some of the little ridges off later. but i would say it will prob take me 40 min to do a complete tire ..... before i do the rest of the tires im going to make another tool so i can have it heating up while im cutting the thread with the other tool.. that would speed it up immensely as i was having to stop and reheat the knife.... and a couple of pics of the tool, leaf spring material is actually really nice to work with, the arc helps alot with being able to get in there without going too deep, but make sure the blade edge is toward the convex side like mine

now that I have a grooving iron , it makes that stuff allot easier to do, I'm just saying.... If you ever get or barrow one, and have a spare few days its worth it.

can you take the whole tread block off in one swoop through.... i thought they were just like 1/2 wide or so.. i want to get something (maybe a die grinder type bit like this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwNLtbMSNcs ) to square up the tread a little...

i mean more like body protection... i need sliders before i venture into the crushers, or airplane hills filters lol... the lil trail rock garden on archers took a couple of good bites out of my drivers rocker panel AGAIN lol...
i dont care much about the body, i just want to be able to open the doors (while i still have em)

A few years back had some 50% swampers. A buddy gave 1 cut 1 uncut bogger with about 30% tread. I cut the other 1 and put em on the rear and couldn t believe the difference. I was runnin a 4 speed and with the gears I had I d usually take off in 1st to avoid slippin the clutch while in the dirt i could count on a little wheel spin and could use 2nd. When I switched to the boggers I would stall it because the tires hooked up so well. The down side is the centers were so bald they got a lot of flats. Yours look like you have a bit more tread so they should treat you a little better til you upgrade
