you gonna be ready for SB? No, unfortunetly it won't be done for SB. Still need to do the cage work in order to measure for the coilovers in the front. Still hoping it'll make it out before the snow flies though. Since I won't be in a crunch to get it done right away, going to do some things I was planning on doing later. Going to get a fuel cell instead of using the stock tank in the bed, also going to move the radiator to the rear. Since it may still be driven on the street, might put the stock sheet metal back on. Eventually think I'm going to do what a couple of the guys from Alaska did on the front of there trucks, and make a sheetmetal engine compartment, and keep the tires outside of it. Hopefully, if I do any mud runs it'll keep some of the mud out of the engine compartment. Also throwing around scrapping the idea of leafs out back and just going coils and linking the rear now, but that depends on $$.

Still waiting for more DOM for the cage. EMJ Metals still has it on order, but the manufacturers keep pushing the delivery dates While I'm waiting for that, decided to weld my wheels together. Both the centers and the rock rings are from www.cmperformancemachine.com/, guy goes by Mad Mac on Pirate. Now just need to find a set of Pitbulls in stock and I'll be all set...for tire/wheels at least. Also did four 1" welds on the front side of the centers also. Probably didn't need to, but figured why not. Still need a little clean up, and then prime and paint. never seen the star ones before, looks cool if you wanted to get patriotic you could paint the centers red, the bolts and the outer rim half white, and the rock rings blue. how much back spacing do u have??

how much back spacing do u have?? Sorry, just saw your last question. Backspacing is right about 3.5". The centers sit on the lip on the inside of the wheels, (where they neck down for the outer half goes over). That's the maximum you can get with these centers.

It was somewhat a productive weekend. Got the rest of the DOM I was waiting for. Got it from Tube Services in North Portland. 2 weeks ago they wanted $4.57 a ft for the 1.75x.120 wall tubing, this week when I called it was $3.36 a ft. Got 3 sticks of them so I now have 4 sticks, better to have more then not enough, in any case it should be more then enough to make the main structure of the cage.
Also got my disk brake brackets and pinion guard ordered from Diy4x, hoping they'll come in next week. Picked up the 14b from Chevtech last weekend. Got it unloaded and started taking it apart today. Got one side almost tore down then hit a snag. After getting the hub off, tried to remove the bolts for the backing plates. Bottom 2 bolts came out with no problems, the upper 2 snapped the heads off. Have one drilled thru, need to get the right size bit, then going to thread it and put a bolt in from the backside. Hoping that when it tightens on the back side it'll spin the other bolt out. I'll get to the other side next week, also just because bought all new bearings for the hubs. Those will go in during re-assembly. Measured things out, and it looks like I won't have to cut the spring pads off and move them, they are right about where they need to be if I measured it correctly.

Got the 14b torn down, just waiting for my brackets and pinion guard from DIY4x to come in. They haven't shipped yet, it's only been a week, if it doesn't ship by Monday I'll give them a call. Hey Josh, you said one of the brakes were leaking on the axle, I'm just guessing, but I think it was more then the brake cylinders Spindles and hubs look fine. I have new bearings and seals to go in when the brackets come in. Pulled the carrier out to weld up the spiders...but found this. Looks like I'm in the market for a different carrier. I might just order a spool for it but to save some $$ would rather just find a carrier with spiders. Since I'll most likely have to set-up the gears with the new carrier, I may just do different gears and be done with it. In the future I was going to do that, just not this soon. Since I have a year or so till SB 7 I don't have to be in a big rush.

Wow, that looks nasty, good thing all of that comes out to do the disk brake swap. Sorry about the posi carrier, had no idea. Yeah no kidding, as soon as I took the drum off I did this . Don't know how the brakes even worked on that side. It's all good about the carrier, not a big deal. what gears do you plan on running i have a 14 bolt carrier open with complete 456 gears sitting in my shed. the pinion is all set up in the hosing so all ya have to do is bolt it in. you can have the whole thing for 75 Thanks for the offer, going to meet up with Big Chief Saturday and trade my carrier for his open carrier, otherwise that is a awesome deal. I may just go with the 5.38 gears like Jason has. I only plan on ever running a smallblock so the more gears the better.

Hey Kevin, about your question you asked me at Summer Bash about what engine I'm going to put in the Ramcharger..... well I guess I kinda spoke too early. I just picked this up tonight '04 engine from a 1500 R/T, with harness, only looks like 1 connector was cut off. Not sure which one till I look at it better. Motor was pulled and a factory replacement was replaced under warranty. Engine had a small knock when the truck was driven into the shop. Before I bought it pulled the pan and there's metal shavings from the bearings in the bottom, rods were a little loose. Another case of I shouldn't look at craigslist, or use google. This engine just like the Magnum 360 I was planning to use will bolt up to the older TF727 transmissions. Plan is to tear down and full rebuild, with some upgrades. Engine will be the last thing done on the Ramcharger, the engine is just going to sit on the stand under a blanket till $$ and time allows. Like I said I didn't NEED one, but when it was posted for less then a new set of wheels, I couldn't let it go by. Plus the guy even loaded it.

another option for your open carrier is to weld the spider gears into a solid ball.... a coworker did this on his 14 bolt.... he got the info from a thread on some 4x4 forum, if you do a good welding job it will never break... it will chirp tires on corners though
