Got the spring mounts modified and painted. Could have cleaned them up a little better, but figure they won't be on the truck for too long. Got the bushings and inserts done on the springs and got one mounted up. Need to go back and buy longer bolts for them though. They were just about a 1/2" too short. Anyways on to the pics... Cut the corners off and rounded them a little Plate added to the back that supports to the bottom of the frame Gussets added to the bottom side for a little extra support Passenger side front bolted in, frame was hit with a flap wheel and primed/painted before bolting it on Passenger side rear mount Here is why the rear was angled, to acheive a better shackle angle With the springs in the mounting position, it looks like the truck would have to go up another 3/4" to bolt back onto the original axle and tires, (they're still under the truck). In total, building the brackets gave me about a 6"-6.5" lift. Still going to require a lot of to get the 42's under it though.

Got the leafs bolted up with the brackets hopefully for the last time. Hoping I won't need a set of lift springs, did some measuring and with the 42" tire it's going to be tight even with lots of trimming. Also got some constructive critism on Pirate about the brackets, (rare I know), that with just the outside piece of metal hanging down, it would eventually stress and bend. Added in some support to the outside strap on front and rear on both sides. Think tomorrow going to clean up the garage some and remove some un-needed brackets to get ready for the 14b rear. Only 11 weeks till SB6 so I have a lot of work ahead of me. Pics of modified brackets:

Been working a little here a little there. Have my tube bender almost finished, just waiting for the die to show up so I can weld on the pivot point so the tube is level before starting the bend. Following the plans, the tube will be a couple of degrees from level. Thought it would be here by this week, but still no word. Once it comes in going to put in my order for 120' of tube to start off with for the beginning of the cage. I'm thinking of getting 3 sticks of DOM and the rest HREW. The DOM will be for the main hoops of the cage and front section. The rest will be for all the tie ins and support points of the cage. No pictures of the bender, when it's done I'll post some pictures, it's the same style Josh built so not much difference. While waiting for packages to show up started "removing" some of the rust from the body, and by removing I mean the body up. Still have some cutting to do around the rear wheel wells, if I have time tomorrow I'll try and get to that. Going to get some 18ga metal and make filler panels from the inner wheel wells to the outside of the body to fill in the gap. Here's what the side looked like before the cut-off wheel. Fender will be cut along the upper line. That line follows the design of the tub. Need to pull the bumper to cut the rear section. It'll be cut about a 1/2" above the red part. Here's after the first round of cutting... Rocker panel all gone Outer fender cut, still need to go a little higher and cut the inner I was going to cut up to the tape line on the front of the door jamb, but decided against it. I'd have to cut the floor up pretty good for the mounts, plus the bottom half of the doors. Making it this way the bottom of the rails will be about an 1" higher then the frame, and I don't have to cut the doors much, maybe just the pinch welds. Going to cut most of the backside of the rocker panel off and use that line for mounting the rails straight. Front and rear of the rails will be cut to a 45* angle to help slide over obstacles. Also have the dash removed just waiting to build the roll cage. 9 weeks till Summer Bash. Don't know if this will make it there or not. I'm hoping it will.

Made it outside between the rain, well for the most part. I was just buttoning things up when the rain started. The man in the brown truck stopped by today and dropped of my Tube Die (Thanks Chris) so when it stopped downpouring went out to finish up the bender. Got it all finished up, except for a couple of small stuff that I can do at a later time, (cover the holes, clean up some of the cuts and put some wheels on it, add some round bar to the bolts for the adjusting legs, paint). Couldn't believe how heavy it is when I was trying to move it back in the garage. Anyways here's some pictures... Going to call and put my order in for my tube tomorrow morning, if they can't deliver it by friday, I may just go pick it up. I have most of next week off from work so hoping I can get the rails done and start on the cage. If I can get the cage and suspension figured out in less then 3 weeks, it's still a good chance it'll make it to Sandlake. ;D

Look what I got... Picked up my order of tubing today from EMJ Metals in Portland. They only had one 22' stick of 1.75x.125 DOM left in stock, so that's all I got of that. Supposed to get more in a week or so. I'll get 2 more sticks when it comes in for the rest of the main part of the cage, and coil-over mounts. Also got 8 sticks of 1.75x.120 HREW for the supports and triagulation of the cage and bumpers. EMJ was the best price of the 2 places I called, $3.27/ft for DOM, and $1.65/ft for HREW. You have to pick it up at Will Call since they deliver with Tractor/Trailer trucks.

Started working on my new "rocker panels" aka sliders. I liked how 78blazer did his, so instead of boatsiding figured I try them this way first. Building the main rail out of 3x4x.120 tube, and will connect them to the frame with some 2x2x.120. The main rail cut and capped off. Where the frame connectors will weld to, the rear one is for the cage connection. The lower cage tube will go to the front, and the rear is another support for the sliders. It's hard to get a decent weld with all the bolt holes that are on the frame. How they line up with the body, the body will be cut along the line that matches the slider. The half oval will get a some 18ga welded when I get the material. They won't be welded to the body, underneath the sill going to fill in the gap with the expanding foam. Hope it'll keep debris from getting in there and rusting out more of the body. Also since they tuck up tight under the body, going to bend some tube and add it to the outside. Not sure how far out, maybe 3"-4" to help with keeping trees/rocks off the doors. Hoping to finish this side up tomorrow and then start on the drivers side. My mother-in-law is flying in tonight so don't have time to start the cage yet, plus I need to get 2 more sticks of DOM. Also finally went through my first spool of wire. Thanks for the comments guys. I haven't forgot Buzzer, once I'm ready to start the cage I'll let you know. Definately going to need an extra hand for that.

Made it home from the party got changed and headed into the garage. Got a patch plate on the body mount support. Still a small hole that needs to be filled in, but it should be fine. Also hit the frame with the flap wheel then cut and welded up the slider/cage plates and welded them onto the frame. Still need to get the 3x4 tube cut to length and the ends covered then I can get it into position and cut the frame mounts for it. That'll have to wait till Wednesday when my weekend starts. Hoping to get the other 2 sticks of DOM so I can start bending the cage by end of next week, but that's if the place got any more in stock.

Got the sliders finished up on both sides. Front and rear of them will get tied into the cage. Still waiting on a 2 more sticks of DOM, so nothing done on the cage yet. Driver side under shot Passenger side under shot Moving forward, slowly, but at least there's still some movement.

Still waiting for more DOM for the cage. EMJ Metals still has it on order, but the manufacturers keep pushing the delivery dates While I'm waiting for that, decided to weld my wheels together. Both the centers and the rock rings are from www.cmperformancemachine.com/, guy goes by Mad Mac on Pirate. Now just need to find a set of Pitbulls in stock and I'll be all set...for tire/wheels at least. Also did four 1" welds on the front side of the centers also. Probably didn't need to, but figured why not. Still need a little clean up, and then prime and paint.
