Started working on my rear leaf spring brackets. Going to replace both the front and rear mounts. The front moves the mounting location down about 2" and the rear the same but will also be a shackle flip. Should get me close to my desired height without having to use a spacer to get the right pinion angle. If I have to then I will. Here's the start to the front mount. Just got the 3/8" metal bent, waiting for it to stop raining to weld them together... I spoke a little early about not getting different axles until I got it moving with the current ones I had. I ended picking this up last night... Dana 60 out of a '91ish Dodge from what the BOM says, it should have 4.10's in it, but the BOM says 3.54 so I'll have to pull the cover. I wasn't looking for one, but for the price and it being fully rebuilt with new bearings, seals AND 35 spline outers I couldn't pass it up. A littler bigger then the D44 that I had set under it... Not much room to the bottom of the engine crossmember, but should be enough.... Now I have to build a front truss for the axle to mount my uppers to, and figure how to mount the lowers and coilovers, and a track bar. Going to be a tight fit. Going to list my D44 up for sale, if anyone is looking for one let me know. If I remember correctly it has 3.54 gears, but I fully rebuilt it. New bearings, seals, balljoints, u-joints. Also has an Aussie Locker installed. Hasn't been ran since it was rebuilt.

if it has 3.54's are you sure its a 60 and not a 61? I thought they made the d61 because they couldnt get tall enough gears to fit the d60?

looks like they did do a 3.54 in a 60 but I would double check anyway. Ridgerunner bought what was thought to be a 60 and ended up being a 61 from a dodge.

Nice work on the rig and nice score on the D60! I have a 4:10 14 bolt if you need it, just look me up.

are there obvious signs of it being a 61? Like ball joints or something?

I don't think so, the lower tag on the diff is 60 F, and it has kingpins. I'm going to pull the cover next week. It's welded, so I'm going to get a set of lockouts for it since it'll still be driven on the street for the time being.

61's have kingpins too. the biggest difference is the center section is cast a little different to accomodate taller gears. Strength wise they are equal to a 60 and use the same outer parts.
If its a 60 or 61 will only matter when ordering gears. Being a dodge it should have the smaller studs in the housing for the spring plate. When in stock form it should have had external lockouts as well.
Whats the full number on it say? Either way nice upgrade.

The number on the lower driver side diff is 60F, passenger side is 37285, the numbers on the longside tube are 610357 5RC 7 18 1 A8, and on top of the housing is 285. I bought it from 1tonJeep on Broke Bastards, he said it wasn't a 61.

Not a problem, glad it happened. Helped me double check that it is a D60, not a 61.

Received my order from 4wdfactory today. Got my lower link brackets that I can't use since I bought the D60, but I'll try and either sell them, or call Ballistic and see if I can exchange them. Also got 2 more Ballistic joints for the links. The 3" ones are HUGE, here they are next to one of 2.63" joints I already had... Since it was a sunny weekend, took time off working on the truck to get this ready to sell. Just need to seal the wood and bolt the bed down and I can list it for sale. Looks a lot different then when I brought it home... Hoping to get back to work on the truck after we get back from Chicago. Going to order a set of Stage 8 spindle nuts for the D60 and new spindle bearings. Then when I get back can assemble the brakes, and carry on with the shackle flip in the rear, and start measuring for the cage.
